IT Chapter 3: Everybody loves clowns. But not the one from Stephen King’s universe. With IT Chapter 2, Pennywise, the horror clown came back and scared the hell out of everybody. Though the sequel of 2017 IT Chapter 1 concluded tremendously well, speculations and rumors are spreading that another installment of the franchise, IT Chapter 3 would take the fans once again to Derry, Maine, to Pennywise.
IT Chapter 2, the recent installment of the franchise came out as a blockbuster with 323.3 million overall earning. And in total, the IT franchise earned about 1.02 billion, becoming one of the most successful horror franchises ever. This means if the creators have some ideas for one more movie, the announcement for the third installment is not much far.
Ideas For IT Chapter 3
Amid the speculations, recently news came up that director Andy Muschietti and Bill Skarsgard (Pennywise) expressed their interest to have the third installment of the horror movie. According to them, they need to dig deeper into King’s novella to find inspiration and story for chapter 3.

As Skarsgard revealed, the third one will be off the book. And they also have some ideas on how the third movie would look like. Moreover, he thinks that it would be a cool idea to change up a few things. Though he did not reveal what these things are, he seems pretty excited to work on the third movie, if it actually happens.
The duo previously also made clear that they’re open to the idea of creating another chapter of the IT franchise, though it sounds as if they already have an idea as to what they’d like that next story to be about.
What Will It Be About?
In the final moments of Chapter 2, the audience saw the descent of the scary clown. The members of the Losers’ Club brought Pennywise into submission by making it feel small about itself. By this, they succeeded to take over and rip out its heart. Also, the blood oath scars on all of their hands disappear, and they recall all of their memories once they leave Derry. Moreover, Skarsgard previously stated that the book ends where the second movie ends, so that is the final chapter of this story. However, his new statement brought a happy-scary feeling for the fans of Pennywise, and also Stephen King.

The audience seems dead serious to have another film of Pennywise and maybe the Losers combined. However, speculations are flaring that the upcoming movie will likely focus on the time before the clown met the Losers. Also, the film would include how he became that horrific clown creature whose prey are generally the kids.
It’s also possible that the prequel could explore the concepts of King’s Macroverse. It is a dimension outside the regions of space where the Glamour that later became Pennywise originated.
IT Chapter 3: Premiere Date
The franchise released its second installment just now, on September 6, 2019. The sequel came out after two years of its debut movie. Therefore, it’s quite long for the fans of Pennywise to have the next IT Chapter. If the movie gets renewed for IT Chapter 3 soon, the film will likely premiere in or around September 2021.
