The End Of The F***ing World Season 2 is not as good as the first one, but can anything ever be? Netflix and Channel 4’s controversial decision to further continue Charles Forsman’s already perfect ending didn’t turn out to be as bad we’d all expected. We as fans wanted to watch more of James and Alyssa, yet we always knew that they’re better off the way they were in the last moments of Season 1. However, we now have a second season, and if you’re still wondering whether to watch it, here’s a *Spoiler-Free* Review for your help.
The second season kind of matches the tone and look of the debut one, yet it feels totally different. James, Alyssa, and the show itself have grown up a lot since we last saw them in 2017. However, is that a good thing? Maybe. But yes, it’s pretty watchable, and no, it won’t ruin the first season. Besides, here are some good and some bad things about The End Of The F***ing World Season 2.

What Is The End Of The F***ing World Season 2 All About?

We know we’ve promised not to spill any spoilers, and don’t worry, we won’t. Besides, Netflix has asked all the reviewers to not give away anything related to James’ fate. Hence, we won’t talk about him at all. The End Of The F***ing World Season 2 is as mean, peculiar, and relatable as the show initially was. It now focuses on the larger effects Season 1’s events had on our leads.

The first installment ended with James lying in his own blood with a torn-apart Alyssa crying her heart out beside him. The screen then cuts to black, and till yesterday we were known of James’ fortune. Whether or not he stays alive in the second part, that memory would be heart-breaking for Alyssa, and it was, actually. The Season 1 finale breaks her to the core, and Season 2 puts much focus on her dealing with the way she feels now (nothing).

With the introduction of a new character, another f***ed up journey begins. The leads deal with their own self-doubts and discomforts. Issues like depression, grief, guilt, trauma, pain, and vengeance come to focus. Unlike Season 1’s carefree protagonists, we now have a grown-up and much wiser version of them instead. Which, for instance, is pretty annoying. Yet, it’s how life actually is, and people have to grow and become wiser at some point in time. The End Of The F***ing World Season 2 has less material in the plot and more feelings to describe it.

Naomi Ackie As Bonnie

It’s hard for any character to get as close to fans’ hearts as James and Alyssa did. However, for the amount of material the role offered, Bonnie did a good job. The series strives for us to sympathize with the character while making her the bad guy here. Having had a painful past herself, she almost matches James and Alyssa’s character arc. She has a lot of screen-time and leads the plot in subject-matter.

On the other hand, Naomi Ackie deserves loads of love for her performance. It’s mostly her acting that makes us root for Bonnie at all. Her character gets an uncomfortable closure, although it’s the best that could’ve happened after the event of early Season 2 episodes.

Should There Be A Season 3?

Well, as far as the second season was concerned, fans were split into two halves. Some of them felt that Charles Forsman’s ending is perfect, while others wanted the streamer to continue the plot. With the way Season 2 turned out to be, it’s fair to say the show remains as important with or without a Part 2. It’s ending is acceptable, if not satisfying.
The same goes for the third chapter as well. We don’t want the makers to ruin the show with another installment. The story is fine and complete without it as well. Although in case they decide to make more, we hope it’s worth it.
The End Of The F***ing World Season 2 may not be as good as the first one, but it’s pretty decent. It keeps on messing with our minds, and we love that. The twists and turns in the plot make us shiver at times, and that makes the installment a must-watch. Besides, we love the performances of the lead actors, and you must give it a watch for the love of James and Alyssa. Moreover, it’s less than 3 hours to binge.
