BBC’s new treat, The Mallorca Files, is on air now. The viewers are enjoying the detective drama all the way from Spain. Also, prior to the release of the first season, the channel officially renewed the show for its next run, The Mallorca Files Season 2.
The renewal for Season 2 of The Mallorca Files took place even before the premiere of the debut season on The BBC. It looks like the channel was pretty much sure about the success of the series, that they did not wait for the big numbers to arrive. Moreover, the episode guide of IMDb suggests that the upcoming sophomore run of the series will also have the ten-episode queue, just like the debut season.
At the time of renewal of The Mallorca Files for Season 2, the BBC Controller Programming and iPlayer Dan McGolpin made this statement back in November. As he stated, “With the nights drawing in, the time is right to transport to the sunnier climes by watching The Mallorca Files on BBC One and BBC iPlayer from later this month. People will love spending time with Miranda and Max in this exciting and stylish first season, and I’m delighted to officially announce that our crime-fighting duo will come back for more capers in 2020.”

The main cast of the series is set to return for the sophomore run of the show, as well. The list includes Elen Rhys as Miranda Blake. Julian Looman as Max Winter. Maria Fernández-Ache as Police Chief Ines Villegas. Tabata Cerezo as Carmen Lorenzo. Tanya Moodie as Abbey Parker and Denis Schmidt as Christian. Also, the audience will see Phil Daniels (EastEnders) and Josetta Simon (Broadchurch) in the upcoming season as the guest stars.
The Mallorca Files features the vibrant international community of the eponymous Spanish island. The show is set around Detective Miranda Blake, an introvert who is used to living by the rules and her German counterpart Max Winter. Max here is a little different than the rest of the detectives, as her approach is based on gut-instinct. The duo’s dynamic almost never twines together and invites to a lot of problems as well. The second season will also continue to the same plot-line of the detective duo looking up to scratch off the crime.
As revealed by Dan McGolpin also, the second season of day time drama will arrive in 2020. Also, the first season of The Mallorca Files came in late November of this year. Therefore, Season 2 of the series would also arrive at the same time next year. For more updates on The Mallorca Files Season 2, stay tuned.
