
Teen Mom fame Cory Wharton has been quite active on his socials, sharing updates on his daughter’s health. The 34-year-old’s younger daughter, Maya, just underwent her 2nd open-heart surgery. Hence, Cory has been sharing continuous updates on her recovery process on his social media. Recently, he got really candid about his new perspective on life after Maya’s surgery. In an exclusive with TMZ, he shares it all.
Little Maya has been battling her congenital heart disease from the very moment she was born. Their doctor diagnosed the disease when Maya was still in Taylor’s womb at 25 weeks. The former pair notably shared that they had been preparing for the little one’s surgeries from the moment she was born. Little Wharton had her first surgery when she was only seven months old. The second one was quite a few days back, when she was just 3 years old.

Teen Mom stars Cory Wharton and Taylor Selfridge have been continuously sharing updates on their daughter’s recovery. Recently, Teen Mom fame Taylor Selfridge took to her Instagram to finally share a positive update. “After 13 days in the hospital, we are home!” Taylor updated excitedly. Furthermore, she shared that Maya’s oxygen level was elevated to a low 90%. Her oxygen levels used to be at meager 75-80 % before the surgery.
“Before the Fontan, her blood was mixing oxygenated blood and non-oxygenated blood, which caused her to have low oxygen to her lungs,” she wrote in the post. After a successful open-heart surgery, Maya contracted a fever, apparently due to some infections. That significantly delayed Maya’s hospital release. Despite all the hardships, Maya was always smiling. However, Maya recovered bravely and is now doing well.

He got candid about his visit to the Children’s hospital, which gave him a new perspective. The reality TV star recently shared an insight into the heartbreaking scene at the children’s hospital he was visiting in one of his posts.

“I was just happy that we were able to leave the Children’s Hospital, because there are a lot of families there that aren’t going to leave,” Cory said.”They’re waiting a year or 2 for a heart transplant,” he added about the other parents’ hardships. He described seeing many children whose situations won’t improve in one of his earlier posts.
“A lot of kids here, their situations won’t really get better, and you see that walking around the Children’s Hospital,” he further added. He also requested fans to pray for the other families and children experiencing similar medical struggles. “There were people in that building who found a way to smile,” he shared with admiration. He also shared that it inspired him to view life differently.
Cory greatly admired their persistence and optimism in the face of such a bitter reality. “I’m trying to do what I can to try to help out the Children’s Hospital or young ones that are in need,” he shared his plans further.
