The Chrisley Knows Best star, Todd, was sentenced to 12-year federal prison, while Julie was sentenced to seven years. In May 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump granted Todd and Julie presidential pardons. After their release, the couple has tried to get back into the public eye. They soon appeared on a reality show called The Masked Singer and have been talking about why they chose to participate in it.

Todd shared that every phase of life, including prison, shaped who they are today. He described their time behind bars as a period of growth, and he didn’t want to hide it. According to Todd, the experience changed them emotionally, spiritually, and psychologically. During his appearance on The Cast Collective podcast, the Chrisley Knows Best star shared details about how he entered prison. Todd revealed that he walked in there carrying $1,000 in cash. He explained that his father raised him and always told him to keep cash on him. He also carried a Bible with him, along with that amount of money. Officials took his cash and told him they would place it into a trust account under his name.

Todd was then instructed to collect his prison uniforms. He then revealed that he was used to sending his clothes to the dry cleaners. In prison, he received a laundry bag and did not know what to do with it. On laundry day, he asked fellow inmates where to send his clothes for dry cleaning. Todd recalled that they laughed when he asked who would iron and fold his clothes. He was also surprised that the bed sheets were changed only once a week.

Eventually, Todd met inmates who offered to do his laundry for him if he paid them enough. He agreed and paid two men to wash and iron his clothes. Todd also admitted that he never ate from the prison kitchen, as staff delivered his meals to him daily. In the end, he acknowledged that he received preferential treatment during his time inside.
