Suddenly Amish pushes six outsiders into a strict Amish community, where modern habits clash with deeply rooted traditions. The people who are part of this experiment can’t have modern amenities like electricity and air conditioning, among other things. Although producers made the rules clear to the cast members, one of them decided to bring in something explicit that didn’t align with them.
During a routine bag check, officials revealed that Billie Jo brought a sex toy to the experiment. Mentors, the cast members, and even the fans questioned Billie Jo for bringing something that was obviously banned. Was this a genuine mistake or a deliberate provocation? Did the contestant truly misunderstand Amish values, or was the moment exaggerated for television? Keep on reading to know more.

Suddenly Amish showcased the cast trying to adjust to the Amish life, and the first night proved to be difficult. When the cast arrived, the contestants learned that their new homes had no electricity. That also meant no air conditioning, despite rising temperatures at night. As the heat intensified, several participants were not able to sleep. Billie Jo admitted that the conditions affected her more than she expected. She explained that since she was on the heavier side, her body struggled with the heat.
Amish host James said the body eventually adjusts if they stay long enough. Aaron also found the heat too much to handle and called himself “weak” in such weather. Flies also kept many cast members awake. The following morning, the community members woke the cast at 4 a.m. for chores. Caretakers explained that men would work in the fields and with livestock, while women handled cooking, laundry, and cleaning.
Suddenly, the Amish cast has its own mentor, Allen, who helped them with the transition. Allen decided to inspect the cast members’ bags. During the check, officials caught Billie Jo with an item strictly banned in the Amish community. She had brought a sex toy, which left both cast members and mentors stunned. Billie Jo even refused to hand over the item when Allen wanted to confiscate it.

Her fellow contestant, Kendra, was surprised and described the situation as “freaky.” She even nicknamed the item “little pinky” and was relieved that it was Allen who checked the bag and not Bishop Vernon. Allen stated that the community strongly frowns upon self-pleasure. According to Amish values, intimacy is meant to be shared between spouses, not to be done alone.
When Billie Jo asked for an exception since she did not have a spouse, Allen refused. He made it clear that the rule applied to everyone equally. Fans also couldn’t help but react to the situation. Some questioned whether the show scripted the scene for shock value. Others felt genuinely surprised that Billie Jo was unaware of Amish customs.
