She had quite a difficult and uncomfortable childhood, all thanks to her convicted brother, Josh.

However, even after she moved away with Derick, her life was met with unexpected tragedies. She and her husband, therefore, appeared on her sister Jinger’s podcast and got candid about aspects of her life. The couple additionally opened up about the “worst chapter” of their lives when their daughter was stillborn. It was in early 2024.

Jill recalled feeling so overwhelmed that she was “crying every single day.” Derick also confessed that he felt “torn” between his job and his family. “We were both grieving, but in different ways,” Derick recalled. Jill pushed herself to be a better mother to her other kids while Derick drowned himself in additional work to cope with the grief.

Then, the couple addressed the elephant in the room, Josh’s impending trial. “On a professional note, it was very informative to go to Josh’s trial,” Derick stated. Moreover, Jill then admitted that “It’s always awkward to talk about that time of Josh’s conviction.” Jeremy then reminded her that the reality of their lives was something they couldn’t overlook.
