The two cast members talked about their complicated views on polygamy during the latest One-On-One reunion. While both women eventually walked away from Kody and the plural family lifestyle, their perspectives on the religion were different.

This was brought to attention after Christine’s husband, David Woolley, shared his harsh and blunt opinions on the religion. Sister Wives: Christine’s Husband Had A Bitter Take On Polygamy

Sister Wives first showed David Woolley’s stance on polygamy back in November. This is when he opened up about how the practice affected his family. David admitted that he always viewed polygamy negatively because of what his sister had to go through while living in it. He claimed his oldest sister suffered mental and emotional pain due to her experience. David blamed the men involved in the religion and called them the biggest flaw in the structure.

When Christine asked him if he really believed that, David did not hesitate and said that they were. David also accused polygamist men of enjoying the attention and competition between wives. He alleged that many used this as a tool to control women. According to him, polygamy was never about righteousness. Instead, he saw it as a system designed to benefit men at the expense of women.

Sister Wives: Reunion Highlights Janelle And Christine’s Polygamy Debate

Sister Wives reignited the discussion during the Season 20 One-On-One reunion, where Janelle was asked about the matter. She had some strong words to say about what David said about the religion. She admitted that watching David talk about polygamy made her uncomfortable. Janelle felt it was unfair to judge all polygamist families based on his single experience.

Janelle has lived the polygamy lifestyle for about three decades and insisted that not every relationship within the religion was the same. She acknowledged that there were issues in all types of marriages, including monogamous ones. She felt David’s claims were too broad for every single family. Christine, however, didn’t know how to react. While she admitted it was difficult to fully agree because some of her family still practices polygamy, she ultimately agreed with David.

Christine said she saw that most polygamous families were sad and not enjoying themselves. She also wondered what convinces women to accept sharing a husband, and why it is framed as empowering. David stated that women were forced to accept the lifestyle. He didn’t understand how it was termed as righteous. Drawing from his childhood exposure, he felt the whole thing was just miserable.
