Duggar News followers recently learned that Joseph was taken into police custody after a nine-year-old girl accused him of sexually abusing her. She claimed that this happened during a 2020 family vacation in Panama City Beach, Florida. The minor reported that Joseph asked her to sit on his lap and even made her sit beside him, covering her with a blanket.
He allegedly touched her genitals and underwear and ran his hands along her thighs. On March 18, Joseph was booked into Washington County Jail in Arkansas. This happened at 3:59 p.m. local time. The noted Duggar is currently awaiting extradition to Bay County, Florida, and some sources say that he is due in court as early as March 20.
Jill and Derick issued an official statement on their website for Duggar News readers after a few hours of Joseph’s arrest. They noted that they were in shock when they learned about Joseph Duggar’s arrest. The couple revealed, “We first learned of anything related to his charges yesterday via a text.” They said that they learned about this disturbing news from a friend’s message, who told them about the media reports and alleged “confession to molesting a juvenile female in 2020.”
Jill and Derick made it clear that they weren’t supporting their family member at all, and they strongly “condemn abuse.” They issued a statement saying they supported the “rule of law” and hoped there would be justice. Jill and Derick further wrote, “Our hearts go out to the innocent juvenile victim of this unspeakable crime and her family.” They are praying that God gives the noted victim strength and hope and provides all the support she needs in her life.
Well, this doesn’t mean that Jill and Derick were leaving Joseph’s family’s side. They noted that they love their sister-in-law, Kendra, and their four nieces and nephews. The couple revealed that they were praying that these members feel loved and supported during this devastating moment for them. Jill and Derick concluded that it would be an “indescribable pain” for Kendra and her kids. They are processing and grieving everything.
