The second season of 2015’s popular anime ended on a complicated note. While some fans are satisfied with the ending, others demand Assassination Classroom Season 3. Has the studio renewed it yet? Will it ever release? Here’s everything you need to know.
As of now, Studio Lerche is yet to wave the green flag for the third season. However, it does not mean that Season 3 won’t release. In fact, there’s still hope for the anime’s return. However, the studio has not made an official renewal yet, and sources that claim otherwise are spreading false news.
Will Assassination Classroom Season 3 Ever Return?
Despite the fact that there’s no renewal, Assassination Classroom still has high chances of return. The anime has been a profitable production for the studio. In fact, the show has also helped in increasing the sales of its source material.
Assassination Classroom originated as a manga series back in 2012 and concluded in 2016. It’s anime adaptation debuted at the screens with 22 episodes in early 2015. Due to its immense popularity, the series was called for a second run from January 2016. On the other hand, the studio also produced two live-action film adaptations that became huge successes at the box office.
Ever since then, there hasn’t been any formal news related to the release of the third season. However, back in 2016, it was rumored that Assassination Classroom Season 3 is preparing to release after the premiere of the anime film, Assassination Classroom: 365 Days. Unfortunately, the news turned out to be false.
One of the main reasons why fans are worried is that the story of the series ended with Season 2. Class 3-E finally assassinated Koro Sensei and saved the world. Hence, fans assumed that Koro-Sensei’s death would mean that there won’t be any plot for a third season. Luckily, it turns out that the octopus-like teacher will return for another round. Hence, there is a possibility for the release of Assassination Classroom Season 3. In fact, a renewal may arrive anytime soon.
Will Koro Sensei Return?
Some sources on the internet have confused the plot of Assassination Classroom’s spin-off series for that of the third season. Koro-Sensei Quest, the spin-off anime series released back in December 2016. It consists of 12 episodes and may return for another season sometime soon. Koro Sensei Quest is different from Assassination Classroom Season 3. However, its plotline can eventually be used to create more episodes for the original anime.
The second season of the anime wrapped the original plotline of the anime, which was to assassinate the alien teacher. However, in the spin-off series of the anime, Koro-Sensei returned as the Demon King. The spin-off series still has an open ending, which can be used to create more content for a third season. However, the great teacher would not go easy on Class 3-E this time.
Assassination Classroom Season 3 Release Date
As of now, Studio Lerche is yet to confirm another season of the popular anime. However, chances suggest that the renewal may soon arrive at the door. Assassination Classroom Season 3 will then go into productions for at least a year. Hence, as per possibilities, the third season may return sometime around 2021 or 2022.
