Cells At Work Season 2: Releases In 2020? Plot Based On Coronavirus?

The brand new episodes of Cells At Work Season 2 can arrive at our screens anytime soon. As hinted by the producers before, this season is about to get much more interesting than ever before. But what will happen next? When will it release? Here’s everything you need to know.

Cells At Work’s brilliant concept originated as a manga series by Akane Shimizu, back in 2015. The original manga ran for five volumes until 2017. However, the series returned with several spin-off mangas, including Bacteria At Work, Cells That Don’t Work, Code Black, Cells At Work! Friend and Platelets At Work. Due to the immense popularity of the franchise, David Productions decided to create an anime adaptation.

Cells At Work! Season 2

The story of the iconic anime takes place inside the human body. It contains trillions of anthropomorphic cells that each do their job to keep the body healthy. The anime series majorly focuses on two of the cells. One of them is a red blood cell, a rookie, AE2803, who does the deliveries but often gets lost. Whereas, the second one is a relentless white blood cell, U-1146, who fights against any germs that invade the body.

Cells At Work Season 2: Renewal & Production Details

The first season of the anime adaptation became a massive success with its debut back in 2018. Cells At Work was appreciated by fans of the manga and freshers alike. Hence, the studio took no time to order another run for the unique series. A few months after the Season 1 finale, David Productions announced the official renewal in March 2019. Production for the installment began soon after. As of now, the new episodes are still under work.

Will Season 2 Focus On Coronavirus?

Since the renewal of Cells At Work Season 2, several interesting fan theories have emerged. However, one of the most thought-provoking theory came out after the outbreak of Coronavirus in China. As of March 2020, the Coronavirus outbreak has caused over 3,200 deaths globally, while more than 95,000 people have been affected by it. The outbreak has now become a serious issue all around the globe.

Considering the theme of Cells At Work, the inclusion of the issue might be a good idea. A large number of fans have come up with different theories about how Coronavirus can be indulged in the plot in an effective way. This includes the spread of Coronavirus in the body and a battle between the virus and the cells. However, the story needs to be handled very sensitively because it may end up hurting the feelings of a large section of the world population.

On the other hand, the inclusion of Coronavirus in the plot of Cells At Work Season 2 can also help raise awareness amongst the viewers. Several plotlines can turn out to be informative and assist in debunking myths about the outbreak. Well, as of now, David Productions is yet to confirm that the new season will talk about Coronavirus. However, we hope that the issue comes up in at least one of the episodes.
