Demon Slayer Season 2: Releases In 2021? Mugen Train Movie Delayed & Trailer Release

As the release of Demon Slayer: Mugen Train Movie comes closer, fans of the anime are wondering about its future. Fortunately, there’s still hope for Demon Slayer Season 2. The Demon Slayer anime series is one of the most popular and commercial animes of recent times. It is an adaptation of a 2016 manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotōge. Upon its debut, the 26-episode television series received loads of appreciation from its viewers back in April 2019. As of now, fans of the franchise are waiting for its sequel film to hit the theatres.

Demon Slayer: Mugen Train Movie Details

With the last episode of the series, Studio Ufotable announced a sequel film. The movie will continue the plot of the first season and will feature the return of all the characters. Moreover, the story of the movie will follow the ‘Infinite Train’ arc from Volume 7 of the manga series. It will be called Demon Slayer/Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Train.

Since the finale of the first season, Ufotable has been teasing fans with key visuals, teasers, and an official trailer of the movie. While a teaser was released long ago in September 2019, the studio recently shared a key visual and the official trailer of the film. The video features the entire cast of the anime preparing to begin their new mission. The key visual sports the title, “With your blade, bring an end to the nightmare.”

Luckily, the studio also confirmed that the Demon Slayer: Mugen Train movie will debut on October 16, 2020, in Japanese theatres. Well, the anime film should currently be in production. However, due to the current Coronavirus outbreak, the creators are unable to work on the project. While the studio does not hint at any delay in the premiere date, chances suggest that a long hiatus might affect their schedule. Ufotable has already postponed the release date of Volume 10-11 BV and DVD manga volumes. We will update this section in case something comes up.

Will Demon Slayer Season 2 Ever Come Out?

Within no time, the anime adaptation gained heavy popularity and appreciation due to its well-crafted design and fast-paced storytelling. Simultaneously, the demand for Demon Slayer Season 2 began to rise. As per the looks, the upcoming sequel film will likely not quench the thirst of fans waiting to watch more Demon Slayer content.

The anime has become one of the best creations in recent times and may become of the biggest commercial hits of the decade. The series has also increased the sale of its source material. Hence, it’s hard to say if Ufotable will let go of this chance. On the other hand, Demon Slayer Season 2 has enough source material to promote in the future. Unlike US tv shows, most of the anime series are produced in order to increase the sales of its light novel or manga series.

As of now, mangaka Koyoharu Gotōge has published 19 volumes of his popular manga series. Whereas, Volume 20 is set to release sometime in May 2020 (delayed due to Coronavirus outbreak). However, the anime adaptation has only covered the first six books of the series. Even if the Demon Slayer: Mugen Train movie covers the entire seventh volume, Ufotable will still have more than enough source material to create Demon Slayer Season 2. Hence, the future for the anime is quite bright, and it may continue for more than two seasons as well. 

Demon Slayer Season 2: Release Date 

As of now, the animation studio is only focusing on the release of the sequel film. Moreover, it may not discuss anything about the second season until the premiere of the movie. Well, as per expectation, Ufotable may announce the renewal if the Mugen Train movie becomes a hit. Until then, fans will have to keep some patience. 

However, looking at the speed at which the studio is working, it may not take that long to release Demon Slayer Season 2 as well. At the earliest, fans may get to watch the new episodes around the end of 2021. We will inform you as soon as an official release date arrives.
