It has been quite a while since the fans last saw Gangsta on screen, and now they are waiting for the anime to return with its second season. The fans have already waited for five years to watch Gangsta Season 2, and they still haven’t got anything on it. Gangsta is a Japanese thriller crime drama anime series. It follows the plot from the manga series of the same name by Kohske. Its inaugural season started airing on July 1, 2015 and ran for twelve episodes. The debut concluded on September 27 of the same year. The anime received a positive response from the viewers and the critics. But still, its much-awaited season is yet to arrive.
Gangsta Season 2: Canceled Or Renewed?
The fans assumed this anime to be an ordinary crime drama series after hearing its name. However, it turned out to be a lot more than and exceeded the expectations of everyone. The anime managed to develop quite a fan following in a very short period of time. By the end of its debut season, it made every single viewer impatient for watching more of it. Despite all the popularity and the positive response from the critics, the fans never get to see what they wanted.
The makers haven’t provided any update of Gangsta Season 2. The main reason behind this delay is its production studio Manglobe that goes bankrupt back in 2015. According to the reports, they were in an estimated debt of 350 million yen. Therefore the studio never got the chance to renew the series. Even Gangsta was the last show produced by them.
Do The Makers Have Enough Source Material?
As we mentioned above, the anime is the remake of the manga of the same title. Therefore for its further installments, it will need the source material to follow. The author of this manga has published a total of eight volumes. The last one was published back in 2018. And the debut season already covered five volumes. And that means the makers only have three volumes for Gangsta Season 2, which is definitely not enough. The makers will need at least two or three volumes for a full-fledged second season. This is also one of the main reasons why any other studio hasn’t picked up the anime after its huge success.
Gangatsa Season 2: Will The Anime Return?
After looking at all these facts mentioned above, it seems like the fans will not see the return of the anime. Its production studio already filed bankruptcy, and there is not enough source material for any other studio to pick up the series. Plue, over the course of the past five years, the popularity and demand for Gangsta Season 2 have decreased gradually. So, it is certain that the anime will not return, and the fans will never get to see its second season.
