The movie is releasing before the sequel because its plot is important for the upcoming arcs. Hence, fans can expect MAPPA to announce Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 along with the release date of its prequel film.
What Will Happen In JJK’s Feature Film?
The upcoming feature film of the series is all set to adapt Volume 0. It is a four-chapter one-shot that is set before the manga series. The film will finally introduce Yuta Okkotsu to anime-only fans. He is a boy with enormous curse energy, and he has the potential to be as strong as Gojo Satoru. In the official trailer of this film, Geto is talking about the death parade of 100 demons. Aoi mentioned this parade in the first season of anime as well.
In Jujutsu Kaisen 0, fans will not see the trio of Yuji, Nobara, and Megumi. But they will surely see some new characters along with some familiar faces. Besides, their favorite character Gojo Satoru will be present in this movie as well. As we stated above, the anime follows its plot from a manga series by Gege Akutami. The first season of the anime adaptation already covered 64 chapters of its source material. On the other hand, Gege has published a total of 147 chapters so far. Therefore there is enough content for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 as well. The anime remained loyal to its source material and didn’t change its storyline even a little. The makers initially stated that they wanted to reconstruct the manga version and create an anime that would follow its original story as close as possible.
In the first season, there were some minor changes, which came after Gege Akutami’s approval. Now, the next arc is about Gojo Satoru’s past, which is about 15 chapters long. After this flashback story, the Shibuya Incident arc begins, which is the longest arc of the manga series so far and has a total of 58 chapters in it.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2: Plot Details!
The second season of the anime might adapt both Gojo’s past story and the Shibuya Incident arc. Firstly, fans will see the flashback story that will reveal how Gojo and Geto became enemies from best friends. This story will also involve the father of Megumi, Toji Fushiguro. Toji was powerful enough to dominate the Gojo and Geto duo. In the same battle, he almost killed Gojo. After coming back from a death experience, Gojo learned some new techniques and became the strongest Jujutsu sorcerer.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 might also feature the Shibuya Incident arc. In Episode 21 of the debut season, Geto mentioned his plan that will take place on October 31. His plan will finally come into motion in this arc. Fans will see some unrealistic battle, and the stakes will be very high for each and every character this time. It might also feature the deaths of some fan-favorite side characters. Several new characters will appear, and a lot of deaths will happen. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2: Release Date
Before the release of JJK’s second season, fans will see the premiere of the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Movie. It is all set to release in winters. Therefore, the fans can expect it to hit the theatres between December 2021 and March 2022. After its release, if MAPPA manages to continue its work on the anime without compromising its animation quality, then the sequel might come out a year after the feature film’s premiere. Hence, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 might premiere by the end of 2022 or in early 2023.
