Soon after the completion of the first season of anime, the fans were much excited about the Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress season 2. Although the season 1 ended at a quite satisfying point, still there is a lot that is still not discussed. Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress proved to be a major success for the Wit studio. For a long time it was uncertain that season 2 will be done or not but in June 2016, both Attack on Titan season 2 and Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress season 2 were confirmed by the director Tetsuro Araki.
Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress is set in a world where a mysterious virus has infected the humans to turn into undead creatures, called Kabane. These creatures can be killed only by piercing through their heart which is protected by a led covering or by cutting off their heads. The story revolves around a young engineer, Ikoma. While testing his anti-Kabane weapon, piercing gun, he gets infected by the virus and becomes a Kabaneri, a human-kabane hybrid. Ikoma with the help of another nameless Kabaneri fight the hordes of the Kabane in order to protect the soldiers and to reach to a safe zone.
Since the second season of Attack on Titan has been completed in June this year, it is certain that the next project Wit studio will be working on is Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress season 2. Also, both of the animes have been directed by Tetsuro Araki which caused a bit of more delay in production of the second season.
“Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress” Season 2 Spoilers
The season 1 of the anime ran for 12 episodes in 2016 and the Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress Season 2 is also confirmed to have 12 episodes. The first season of the anime left the fans with a lot of unanswered questions. Fans are still wondering about the actual origin of the kabanes and how a few humans can control Kabanes in the Kabaneri form? Apart from Ikoma are there any more Kabaneris who are still in their human conscious? Probably Season 2 has got all the answers.
According to IBTimes.co, the season two the anime is lacking in the source material from the manga. Therefore the creators have decided to work on the entire new plot with a little content from the manga. But a few arcs of the manga are confirmed to be in the season 2 of the anime. But creating a story different from the manga is a very big gamble in the anime creation as animes like Sekirei Season 3 was canceled as they didn’t go with the manga storyline. There have been a few animes which took their plot on a different path than that of the manga and gained very high criticism in return.
Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress Season 2 Release Date
Fortunately, now Wit Studio has done with their previous projects and hopefully, director Tetsuro Araki will be working on Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress Season 2 as he promised with the fans. If everything goes according to the plan, we can expect the release of the second season to be in the first half of 2018. However, official release date for Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress Season 2 is yet to be announced.
