Like most of its shows, Eight Bit has kept us waiting for yet another fan-favorite anime. Knight’s and Magic Season 2 is currently trapped in a long hiatus for the last two and a half years. Well, it’s high time to question if the much-awaited animated series will ever be back on the screens. Hence, here’s everything you need to know.
Adapted from the world-famous light novel series, the anime series has been a profitable production for the studio. Upon its debut, the animated show was liked by millions of viewers. Whereas, it’s also one of the best mecha animes available today. Hence, the highly-rated series has a large and loyal fanbase demanding its renewal.
Will ‘Knight’s and Magic Season 2’ Ever Come Out?
Only a few shows by Eight Bit (8Bit) studio have had the chance to return for a second chance. This includes their latest anime, That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime Season 2. Well, it’s hard to predict the basis of these renewal orders, although it surely depends upon the anime’s popularity and demand. Considering this idea, Knight’s and Magic Season 2 may get its green flag anytime soon.
However, the makers of the show have constantly refused to make any statements for or against the renewal of the anime. It’s already been two years, and the studio is yet to make an official announcement. On the contrary, it’s common for studios not to announce a formal cancellation. In fact, sometimes, studios create such anime series only to increase the sales and popularity of its light novel or manga series. Is this the case with Knight’s and Magic as well?
Well, the release of Knight’s and Magic anime series actually helped in increasing the sale of its light novel series. In fact, it also had some effects on the sale of Knight’s & Magic manga series that were sold consecutively. However, there is no more source material to promote anymore. Hence, Knight’s and Magic Season 2 is under the heavy risk of being canceled.
Is There Enough Source Material?
Knight’s and Magic originated as a 2010 web novel, which was later published as a light novel series in 2013. It was also adapted as a manga series later in 2016. Whereas, the anime adaptation of the LN series landed at our digital screens in 2017. Seven out of nine LN volumes were used to create thirteen episodes of the anime.
Hence, the anime does not have enough source material to create another set of episodes. The last LN volume came out in October 2018, and ever since then, writer Hisago Amazake-no (of the light novel), has not published any further installments of the light novel series. Whereas, it’s almost impossible to create a full season of the anime with only two LN volumes.
However, there are chances that Hisago Amazake-no may begin writing the light novel again. In case he does, Eight Bit may finally get some content to create at least a small installment of the anime. Hence, the release Knight’s & Magic Season 2 solely depends upon new volumes of the light novel series. Since the light novel is not officially discontinued, there is still hope for the anime’s return.
Knight’s and Magic Season 2: Release Date
Writer Hisago Amazake-no may take years to create enough light novel volumes. As of now, fans may have to wait for at least two or three years. The mecha anime series will take some time in production as well. Hence, Knight’s and Magic Season 2 has no chances of return anytime sooner than 2022. However, if the demand goes out of hand, the studio may release it earlier as well.
