Despite the heavy demand for the following installment, the officials haven’t provided any update to the fans. Maken-Ki, aka Maken Ki Battling Venus, is a Japanese harem action anime series. It originated from a manga series of the same name by Hiromitsu Takeda. Studio AIC & Xebec joined forces to produce the anime that made its debut on October 5, 2011. The first season ran for twelve episodes. Whereas, its second season premiered after a gap of three years on January 16, 2014. It ran for only ten episodes and ended on March 20 of the same year.
Maken-Ki Season 3: Renewal Status!
Many viewers thought that this show is also full of guilty pleasures, just like other harem anime. However, the first season amazed its fans with its storyline. As a result, it got a positive response from its viewers and critics. However, the sequel adapted the same old method of featuring unnecessary fanservice to seduce the fans. There was no depth in its storyline as well. No wonder the ratings went really down as the fans expected a lot more from it. Yet, despite everything, they still want to see more of this show as they think it has some potential. But the makers are yet to renew Maken-Ki Season 3, as reported by The Anime Daily. Fortunately, they didn’t announce the cancellation of the show as well. Therefore, its followers are still hopeful about its return.
Do The Makers Have Enough Source Material?
Like many of its kind, the Maken Ki anime adaptation also follows its plot from a manga series. Its serialization began back in June 2008 and went on for long until its conclusion last year in March. During its twelve years run, the author has published a total of 24 volumes. Studio AIC & Xebec didn’t even adapt one-third of the content from the manga. Therefore, they still have a lot of source material to produce Maken-Ki Season 3. If the production company wants, they can easily make three more installments with the remaining books.
Maken-Ki Season 3: Will The Anime Return?
After a brilliant start, the anime series became a little sloppy and lost its fine touch. Its ratings even dropped down to 6.17 on MAL. The criticization and a poor critical reception might be the main reason behind the delay of the anime’s following season. Last year, the manga series was concluded, which means the third season now has nothing to promote. The ending of the manga decreased the chances of Maken-Ki Season 3 to almost zero. However, if the renewal ever arrives, we will surely update this section.
