My Little Monster Season 2: Canceled Or Renewed? Everything Fans Should Know

Eight years is a long time to wait for any show, but the fans of Tonari no Kaibutsu-Kun are still hopeful for My Little Monster Season 2. The anime series is quite popular and has a huge and loyal fanbase. All of its followers are still waiting for this show to return to the screens with a sequel. Given that the series is yet to get the green light, is there hope for it in the future? Here is everything to know.

My Little Monster, aka Monster Sitting Beside Me or Tonari no Kaibutsu-Kun, is a Japanese coming-of-age comedy anime series. It is an adaptation of a slice-of-slice manga of the same title by Robico. Brain Base Studio picked up this story and produced a television anime. Its premiere episode came out on October 2, 2012. The show ran for thirteen episodes, while the season finale came out on December 25, 2012. Well, it was the last time the fans ever saw this series on the screens.

My Little Monster Season 2: Canceled Or Renewed?

Tonari no Kaibutsu-Kun’s debut season came as a surprise for the viewers. From the protagonist’s early love confession to its comedic elements, the series aced every single thing. It kept the viewers engaged in its storyline right from the very beginning. No wonder its followers have been crying out to see more of this show.

However, despite everything, its production studio resisted talking about the anime’s return for the past eight years. Yet, fans are still waiting for the officials to renew My Little Monster Season 2. Well, a lot of rumors have surfaced on the web during these years, but none of them turned out to be true.

Do The Makers Have Enough Source Material?

The production studio used content from the Tonari no Kaibutsu-Kun manga series to create the plot of the anime. The first volume of this manga came out in 2008. It completed its serialization on June 24, 2013, and during these five years, the author has published a total of 13 volumes. However, one of them was a special volume. Tonari no Kaibutsu-Kun only adapted the first four volumes of this series. Therefore, Brain Base Studio can still use the content from the remaining eight of them to create My Little Monster Season 2. Eight books are enough for the studio to produce two more installments of this show.

My Little Monster Season 2: Will There Be A Second Season?

Tonari no Kaibutsu-Kun is one of the most popular comedy anime shows that have ever been made. The show climbed up to the top in no time. Its arrival on Netflix only boosted the popularity of the anime even more. My Little Monster ranked at #115 in popularity on MyAnimeList and has a good score of 7.53 on the same platform. The television series also made a lot of profit for the producers and helped to boost the sales of the manga series. Studio Brain Base has a sufficient amount of content to make its sequel as well.

However, it’s important to note that eight years is a very long time to wait. It is very rare for any show to get a renewal after this long. Tonari no Kaibutsu-Kun manga series already concluded years ago. Therefore My Little Monster Season 2 has nothing left to promote now. So, despite its popularity, the chances for the anime’s second season to happen are very slim.
