We’ve been patient for a countless number of days, waiting for Re:Zero Season 2. Fortunately, it finally looks like we’re about to get more episodes of the fan-favorite anime series. With its debut back in 2016, the series gained much popularity amongst the masses. Despite waiting for more than three years, fans are still excited about its return. The release of Re:Zero – Starting Life In Another World’s second OVA has increased the chances of Re:Zero Season 2 premiering sometime soon. The story of Re:Zero Hyōketsu no Kizuna (Frozen Bonds) sets a suitable plot for a second installment of the anime adaptation. Besides, it also has a couple of plotholes left to be filled by the storyline of the upcoming season.

Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World is a popular Japanese light novel series written by Tappei Nagatsuki and beautifully illustrated by Shinichirou Otsuka. It rose to fame with its first volume on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website back in 2012. As of now, Re:Zero has sold more than 3 million copies in print of its light novel series. In fact, it was one of the top ten best-selling light novels in 2015 and 2016.
On the other hand, its manga series and anime adaptation were both well-received by the audiences. Critics and viewers around the globe praise the anime series for its unique “another world” concept. Hence, due to its high reception, fans were expecting a lot from the second OVA that debuted recently.
Viewers were happy to finally watch something related to their favorite anime series. However, Re:Zero Frozen Bonds did not perform as well as the 25 episodes did back in 2016. Upon its debut on November 8, 2019, in Japan, fans were disappointed about the OVA’s plotholes and lack of consistency. Although it’s understandable as Frozen Bonds intended to set the plot for Re:Zero Season 2.
Re:Zero Season 2: Official Teaser
The official website of the anime series finally gave us the first look of Re:Zero Season 2. Fans had been waiting for any kind of information about the latest episode, and they finally have all the major details. Back in March 2019, the official site confirmed the return of the second television anime season. It is currently streaming a video for it besides the visual and returning cast members. Moreover, the website also streams trailers of Re:Zero – Starting Life In Another World’s both OVAs.
From the looks, Re:Zero Season 2 seems to be a tough take for our protagonist Subaru Natsuki again. The trailer features him walking through hundred of corpses lying around. Fans point out that some of the bodies resemble Ram, Rem, and Emilia. On the other hand, Subaru is full of rage, looking at the scene around him. The teaser ends with the quote なるほど。それが君の欲の根幹か。which roughly reads, “I see. So that is the root of your greed.” Well, the second season of the television anime series may be full of a lot more pain and suffering than the first part.

When Will The Anime Series Be On TV Again?
While it was already affirmed that Re:Zero Season 2 is set to release, we still don’t have a firm date yet. As of now, there’s no official confirmation as to when the anime series may be back on our screens. However, as per reports, the installment may soon be in the productions since Re:Zero – Starting Life In Another World: Frozen Bonds is already screened in Japan.
On the other hand, the anime influencer SPY, claims that the anime adaptation will return by early 2020.
