The Japanese anime is based on the manga of the same name created by Hirotaka Akagi and illustrated by Eito Shimotsuki. ‘Shimoneta: A Boring World Where the Concept of Dirty Jokes Doesn’t Exist’ started in 2015 and ran for 12 episodes. The anime was highly praised by the fans for its comedy and romance but most of all for a bit different storyline. It’s been a long time since the fans are asking for the “Shimoneta Season 2,” but till the date, there have been no announcements made by the J.C. Staff studio.
Shimoneta is the story set in the near future where the Japanese government has set extreme rules to crack down and eliminate any perceived immoral activity. All the citizens of the country are a force to wear high tech devices known as Peace Makers at all the times. The Peace Makers analyze every spoken word and all the hand gestures made by any person for an action that could break the law.
The story revolves around Tanukichi Okuma who enters into a new high school, the country’s leading elite “public morals school” in order to reunite with his crush and the student council President, Anna Nishikinomiya. Later he discovers that an organization is under building inside the school known as SOX. Their motive is to spread pornographic content throughout the city as a form of protest against the moral rules.
Possibilities of Shimoneta Season 2
Till the date, there has been no announcement about the continuation of the series and the development of Shimoneta Season 2. Season 1 of the anime covered eight volumes of the light novels whereas Shokagugan has published eleven volumes so far since July 2012 under their imprint.
Spoilers for Shimoneta Season 2
There isn’t much to say about what is going to happen in “Shimoneta Season 2” as most of the latest releases of the light novels do not have an English edition yet. But it speculated by some fans that after the success of their movements against the Morals Authorities in season 1, the SOX group would aim for a bigger target in Shimoneta Season 2. They will try to reach directly to the Japanese government by making their campaign spread across throughout the country. While doing so, their biggest challenge will be to control the Non-SOX terrorists.
Shimoneta Season 2 Release date
As we said, there have been no official words from the J.C. Staff about the continuation of the Shimoneta Season 2 but looking at the success marked by its season 1 it is highly teased that Season 2 would surely take place. However, the Light Novel series has a total of 11 volumes out of which 8 were used for the first season. The Light Novel series was ended on February 18, 2016, which leaves very low content for the Shimoneta Season 2. Thus, the chances of the sequel happening anytime soon are quite less.
