Soul Eater, aka Soru Ita, is a Japanese dark fantasy action-comedy anime series. It is a partial adaptation of a dark fantasy manga series of the same name by Atsushi Okubo. Studio Bones picked up the manga’s theme to produce the anime that made its debut on April 7, 2008. It had a long run of 51 episodes and ended its television broadcast on March 30, 2009.

Both the anime and the manga series are insanely popular among the fans. It received a grand response from the audience as well as the critics. However, some manga readers have their share of complaints, but the anime-only fans didn’t find anything worth complaining about. Overall, its performance was great, and it made a lot of money as well. Despite all that, the production studio or the makers didn’t reveal anything about its future in the past twelve years. During its nine years run, the author published a total of 25 volumes that have 113 chapters in them. However, the anime only remained loyal to its source material till the 32nd chapter, and then it molded its own storyline. However, some events of the manga series were included in the show. So, if we look at the skipped chapters, Studio Bones will have enough content for Soul Eater Season 2. But the previous 51 episodes adapted the entire manga by skipping the middle chapters. If the anime ever gets renewed, the writer will have to create a new storyline for it.
Soul Eater Season 2: Will The Anime Return?
The debut season of the anime has a great score of 7.87 on MyAnimeList. It is madly popular and ranked at #46 in popularity on the same platform. It justifies the huge demand for its sequel. However, 12 years is a long time to wait, and it is very rare for any show, no matter how popular it is, to get a renewal after this long. Therefore, the chances for Soul Eater Season 2 are almost zero now. But, there is a possibility that the fans will see the reboot of the anime in the near future. Many manga readers are also demanding the reboot of Soul Eater as the first one didn’t stay loyal to its source material. So, instead of the sequel, we might hear the announcement of its reboot.
