After an excruciatingly long wait, it’s finally time to ask some series questions. Will Spice And Wolf Season 3 ever release? Well, the answer is still the same. Spice And Wolf originated as a light novel series in 2004, which was later adapted as a manga series and anime as well. All three of them were equally popular at their time. The anime adaptation opened up to much appreciation from fans and critics alike. Besides, it was successful in forming a connection with the audience. Hence, even after ten years, the third season is still in the talks.
Will It Ever Come Out?
Well, it’s pretty unusual for TV shows to return after a ten-year gap. However, some exceptions like Full Metal Panic! gives us hope. The third season of Full Metal Panic! returned after a 13-year long hiatus. Hence, there’s still a chance that Spice And Wolf Season 3 may come back.
Both the previous seasons of Spice And Wolf worked fine for their respective studios. The first season was produced by Imagin. Whereas, by Season 2, the production shifted to Brain’s Base instead. However, the second season wasn’t as favorable for the LN volumes sales as the debut season. This was one of the main reasons why the anime was canceled.
On the other hand, back in 2011, the light novel series stopped publishing LN volumes for a long time. This was another important reason why the studio didn’t make any more anime installments. Since the light novel series stopped, Spice And Wolf Season 3 would’ve had nothing to promote. Luckily, in 2016, five years after the last light novel volume, writer Isuna Hasekura resumed publishing. Since then, five more books have been released, including the latest one in December 2019.
Now that the light novels have begun publishing again, there’s still some hope for Spice And Wolf Season 3. The installment will now have a purpose to return.
Spice And Wolf Season 3: Is There Enough Source Material?
The first season of the anime debuted with 13 episodes back in 2008. It consumed the plot of the first two LN volumes. Whereas, the second installment of the series returned in 2009, and covered Volume 3 and 5 of the light novel. However, the Spice And Wolf light novel series has a whopping total of 22 volumes, as of December 2019. Therefore, Season 3 still has more than enough source material to adapt.
Spice And Wolf: Spin-off Series?
It’s been ten years since we last heard of the anime series, so it’s fair to doubt its future. However, if not a full season, Spice And Wolf can still return in the form of a spin-off series. The popular LN series has a spin-off light novel series of its own. It’s titled ‘Wolf And Parchment’ and has a total of four volumes, as of March 2019.
The Wolf And Parchment light novel series can be used to create a spin-off anime series. The LN spin-off series is still running. Hence, the anime can help to increase the sales of future volumes. Besides, the anime will have enough source material to adapt. However, it’s hard to say of Brain’s Base will be ready to produce the show. Although, as per the current trend, any production company can pick up the projects that have potential. Well, as of now, fans can only hope that another studio or platform picks up Spice And Wolf Season 3 or the Wolf And Parchment spin-off.
Spice And Wolf Season 3 Release Date
As of now, neither of the companies related to the production of the anime have spoken about the possibility of a third season. However, ever since the light novel series resumed, chances for the anime’s return have increased. Yet, even if the green flag comes right away, Spice And Wolf Season 3 or a spin-off might not return anytime earlier than 2021 or 2022.
