Makers of the popular anime have finally confirmed the release of a “new project.” However, Violet Evergarden Season 2 is still on hold. Whereas, another brand new Violet Evergarden movie is all set to hit the screens. Well, despite getting a full-film, fans are still questioning the future of the anime series. Will there ever be a Season 2? Here’s everything to know.
Violet Evergarden is a highly popular light novel series that won millions of hearts with its release back in 2015. Written by Kana Akatsuki and illustrated by Akiko Takase, the award-winning LN series has two volumes and a Gaiden light novel as well. Its popularity helped raise viewers for the 2018 anime adaptation. However, the anime itself became heavily famous amongst masses and won itself a Best Animation at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2019. Hence, it’s legit for fans to want more high-quality content with a second installment.
Violet Evergarden Season 2: Renewal
The second season of the famous anime is pretty likely to happen, although it may not return anytime soon. Due to its popularity, the studio is instead focusing on making animated films than Violet Evergarden Season 2. Shortly after the series’ debut at the screens, Kyoto Animations announced a spin-off film, Violet Evergarden: Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll, that eventually released in September 2019. As of recent news, fans will also be getting a brand new film in the new year.
However, it’s important to mention that possibilities for Season 2 might seem low, but there’s still hope for its release. A second round for the anime series is currently in high demand, and its cancellation may lead to much outrage from fans around the globe. On the other hand, it’s hard to believe that the studio will ever let go of a massively popular show with a huge viewership count.
Whereas, speculations suggest that Violet Evergarden Season 2 may go under production after the release of the new film. As of now, fans must keep hoping for Violet Evergarden Season 2 and demanding it from the studio.
New Violet Evergarden Movie Release Date
With the release of Violet Evergarden Gaiden LN, the studio officially ordered an exciting “new project” for fans of the anime series. It was later announced in July 2018, that the new project is an animated film. Initially, the Violet Garden movie was set to hit the screens in January 2020. However, the production got delayed due to the gruesome Kyoto Animation arson attack. The latest Violet Evergarden movie is all set to premiere on April 24, 2020.
The plot of the new film is yet undiscussed, although it’s likely to feature the events after the anime series. The movie will later release on Netflix as well.
Violet Evergarden Season 2 Release Date
The makers of the popular anime have kept mum on over all sorts of details about Violet Garden Season 2. Since the first installment covered all source material, S2 has barely any original content to feature. Although fans have been open to the possibility of another light novel volume to release sometime soon. On the other hand, Kyoto Animations is known for extending the plot of the source material to make new installments. Hence, chances suggest that the studio may attempt to create more of Violet Evergarden story by itself.
However, Violet Evergarden Season 2 may not premiere anytime soon. As of now, due to the arson attack, Kyoto Animations have already delayed the new film. Hence, it may not begin productions for the second season sooner this year. Although the studio may attempt to start working on the installment after the debut of the movie. Hence, as of now, fans can expect Season 2 sometime towards the end of 2020 or early-2021, at the earliest.
