It’s been a while since legendary actor Hakuryu announced the renewal of Zombie Land Saga Season 2. Yet, none of its episodes are ready to debut at the screens. Studio MAPPA’s unique series premiered back in October 2018 and ran for twelve entertaining episodes. The anime became an instant hit by winning millions of hearts altogether. A manga adaptation with the same name debuted a few days after and fueled the popularity of its anime series. In no time, fans began to demand a second outing of the comedy-horror show. Fortunately, Season 2 was finally confirmed the next year.
Zombie Land Saga Season 2: Renewal & Productions Details
Back in July 2019, the voice actresses playing the lead roles in the anime performed a live concert at Furusato Kaikan Arpino in Karatsu in the western Japan prefecture. At the event called Zombie Land Saga LIVE IN SAGA, veteran actor Hakuryu (Saga-native) gave in the special announcement. He confirmed that Zombie Land Saga Season 2 had been renewed. The latest installment will be dubbed as Zombie Land Saga Revenge.
While it hasn’t been confirmed, fans speculate that Studio MAPPA, Apex Pictures, and Cygames might have already begun the productions of the new season. The anime may take a while to wrap up the productions.
First Key Visual!
Soon after the Zombie Land Saga LIVE IN SAGA event, the makers of the anime shared the news with fans online. Through a tweet and social media posts, the studio released the first key visual of the series. The picture features a shirtless Kotaro Tasumi looking up at the sky with his arms raised in Saga Prefecture. Besides, it also sports the Japanese text on the side, calling out the sequel and hinting that the idol girls will be back in the name of revenge. The caption of the tweet announced that Zombie Land Saga Season 2 is confirmed.

Release Delayed?
It’s about to be a year since the renewal of the second season. However, none of the companies related to Zombie Land Saga Season 2’s production have said anything about its release. A large number of fans around the globe have begun to worry about the future of their favorite anime. Well, anime series can take much longer in the productions than television shows. Besides, the sequel has already been confirmed, which confirms its return.
On the other hand, based on the current circumstances, the anime may take even longer to come back. Amidst the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the entertainment industry is struggling to operate. The tragic pandemic has taken the lives of thousands of people from all around the globe. Moreover, it has also affected the economies of several countries. Hence, it’s hard to say if Studio MAPPA will be able to work on Zombie Land Saga Season 2 for a while.
