Latest on Gordon Ramsay: Celebrity Chef, TV Personality, Author, and Dad

You have seen him in Hell’s Kitchen, Masterchef, and Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares over the years. His kitchens are magnificently set up. All you need to whip up a scrumptious meal is within reach. We tried to emulate one of the settings, and the Best Buy deals catalog had amazing offers on electricals which we were quick to grab. From the $49.99 Insignia microwave to the $99.99 Ninja digital air fryer – our set was fit enough for Gordon Ramsay himself to cook up a storm. But what is this Celebrity Chef up to now?

‘Masterchef’ returns this year with season 11. As usual, Gordon Ramsay will be joined by Aaron Sanchez and Joe Bastianich as the main judges. It will air this month and is set to bring the heat with a special ‘Legends’ theme; Ramsay has invited some of the most skilled chefs from across the world to take part in being mentors and judges on the program.

Besides publishing two cookbooks in the past 3 years, Gordon Ramsay is also running The Gordon and Tana Ramsay Foundation with his wife. Currently, they are collaborating with the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity to raise money to help the hospital with treating children, research, medical equipment, and family support services.

We picked one recipe from “Gordon Ramsay’s Ultimate Fit Food”cookbook:

Tray-baked Chicken with Butter Beans, Leeks And Spinach

2 breasts, 2 thighs, and 2 drumsticks, skinned or 1 entire chicken, jointed

1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil   1 garlic head, horizontally cut in half
1 trimmed, halved lengthwise, and sliced leek200ml white wine (dry)
400ml stock (chicken or vegetable)  2 sprigs thyme
2 cans (400g) butter beans, drained and rinsed250g baby spinach
Freshly ground black pepper and sea salt
  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Using salt and pepper, season the chicken.
  2. Warm a large roasting tray on the stovetop before adding the oil. When the pan is heated, cook the chicken pieces on all sides until they are beautifully browned. Turn the chicken over to the skin side.
  3. Place the garlic, cut side down, in the tray, followed by the leeks, which should be stirred around in the oil.
  4. Pour in the wine and allow it to bubble for 2 minutes before adding the stock. Scrape any parts stuck to the bottom using a wooden spoon.
  5. Remove the pan from the heat and nestle the thyme sprigs, butter beans, and spinach between the chicken pieces. Season with a touch of salt and pepper, then toss everything together before placing the dish in the oven. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until chicken is thoroughly done. Stir the tray once in a while to ensure that everything is cooking evenly.
  6. Take the tray out of the oven and set it aside. Wait for at least 5 minutes before serving

In upcoming episodes, he will be traveling to Croatia, Puerto Rico, Smoky Mountains, Finland, Iceland, Michigan, and Mexico. New episodes air on National Geographic on Sundays at 9/8c.

Also, a new show is in the pipelines. Fox recently announced that it will be picking up ‘Next Level Chef’, a format created by Ramsay. The show will star chefs, social media stars, food truck owners among others in a competition to crown the first next level chef. In this competition, participants will compete on different levels. From the basement to the top floor, each kitchen will have a distinct look and standard, down to the food. You can guess what kind of show that will be… Ramsay wants to see if the competitors can create amazing food, whether they are in a five-star kitchen, or in the depths of a basement.

Awards

Studio Ramsay’s ‘Ramsay in 10’ was chosen as a winner by the Webby Awards in their 25th annual ceremony. Ramsay in 10 was a winner in the Food & Drink, Social Content Series & Campaigns categories (Social). This is the Studio’s and Gordon Ramsay’s first win. During the first lockdown, Gordon would go live on Instagram every weekend to cook and show recipes. Longer episodes were uploaded to Youtube and all of the episodes trended consistently. The recipes were so much of a hit that they will be part of a new cookbook to be released later this year.
