Louis Tomlinson And Zara McDermott Spark Romance With Costa Rica Getaway

Louis Tomlinson, former One Direction member, and Zara McDermott, documentary filmmaker and ex-Love Island star, have been spotted enjoying a romantic holiday in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica. The couple, who were first linked in March 2025, appear to be deepening their relationship amidst scenic beaches and tropical sunsets.

A Budding Romance

Speculation about Tomlinson and McDermott’s relationship began in March when they were photographed dining together at a hotel in Suffolk, UK. Since then, fans have noticed subtle social media interactions, including mutual follows and likes on Instagram. In April, McDermott shared a photo on her Instagram Story featuring a recognizable tattoo on Tomlinson’s arm, further fueling dating rumors. 

The couple seemingly confirmed their relationship in May when Tomlinson commented “Proud of you x” on one of McDermott’s posts about her upcoming documentary series. His sister, Daisy Tomlinson, also commented, “Clever and beautiful,” indicating family approval.

Costa Rican Retreat

Tomlinson, 33, flew McDermott, 28, first-class from London to Costa Rica, where he has been working on his upcoming album. The couple is staying in a secluded villa in Santa Teresa, a popular beach town. Fans captured footage of the duo interacting with locals, with Tomlinson expressing his enjoyment of the trip, saying, “I’ve been loving it.” 

McDermott shared a scenic sunset photo on Instagram with the caption “beautiful,” marking her presence in the Central American country.

Navigating Past Relationships

McDermott’s previous relationship with Made in Chelsea star Sam Thompson ended in December 2024 after five years together. Both Tomlinson and Thompson are set to participate in the upcoming Soccer Aid charity football match. To avoid potential awkwardness, McDermott has chosen not to attend the event.  Thompson has addressed the situation, stating he holds no hard feelings towards Tomlinson and is focusing on the charitable cause of the event. He also made a light-hearted comment, referring to McDermott and Tomlinson’s relationship as a “hook-up.”
