Love After Lockup sees Angela riding harsh on Tony. She always acted like a detective seeking to know everything about Tony. Be it where he was, with whom he was, what he was doing – she just wanted to know everything. Angela Gail admitted that Tony needed “someone to be kind of hard on him.” She further explained that commitment and authority work hand in hand. However, her being bossy around him took a toll on her relationship.

On the show, Tony confessed about his criminal history. He started drinking at the age of 14 and selling drugs at 15 to provide for his habit. However, by the age of 20, he was arrested and put in prison. Just two years before the completion of his sentence, Tony started talking to the much older woman. They seemed to get along well. However, things got worse as Angela herself turned into a prison warden.
