Venom 2 was a nearby dream till now. But the latest announcement by Sony has made fans go furious. Sony has further pushed the release date of Venom’s sequel this year. The Tom Hardy starrer action-packed origin story was an instant hit for Sony in 2018. Therefore, a sequel-work was an obvious decision. But the release date seems not-so-obvious in this pandemic world.

Fans absolutely loved watching Tom Hardy turning into the villainous Vemon under the influence of the alien-slime. The sequel movie is officially titled The Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The first film grossed over $850 million worldwide. This was Sony’s launch into the world of Marvel characters after Spider-Man. This is Venom’s second appearance on the big screen after Spider-Man 2 and the fandoms cannot wait to see more of this grey character.

Venom 2: Who Will Return?

Fans will see the return of Tom Hardy as the New York-based reporter Eddie Brock. The interesting part is that who will be joining him along in the new film. Woody Harrelson has been cast as Venom’s foe Carnage. Carnage, originally known as Cletus Kasady, is an offspring of Venom. In the comics, Carnage is allegedly stronger than its maker Venom. Michelle Williams will be seen in her role as Anne Weyling from the debut movie. Reid Scott will also be seen as Dr. Dan Lewis. Also, Naomie Harris revealed last year that she is in negotiations with Sony for a role. Although, her character has not been disclosed yet.

Venom 2: Spider-Man Crossover?

Sony and the filmmakers have been very cautious with their words lately. In an interview with IGN, director Andy Serkis said that he cannot reveal any ideas at the moment. In this 2019 interview, he said that he was in the budding stage of the making of this film. He added that he has very clear ideas of what he wants to show the audiences visually.

There were speculations that the sequel will have a Venom and Spider-Man crossover. Kevin Feige, who is the head of Marvel Studios, has gone on record to say that this idea “seems likely at some point.” Moreover, producer Matt Tolmach has said that Venom will be the main focus of this film. The idea of Spider-Man entering the Venom-world is still alive at the point. It is clear for now that Venom and Carnage will be seen in action at their level-best.

The Venom Let There Be Carnage: New Release Date

Sony has announced that it is moving the release date of The Venom: Let There Be Carnage further this year. Earlier the part two was set to be released in June this year. But in order to avoid clashes with Universal’s F9, the particular call had to be taken. Almost three months after Sony announced the original release date, the studios dropped a new announcement.

The movie was previously slated to release on June 25. Well, this is the second pushback by Sony. Before this, the film was set to be released on October 2, 2020. After a year of wait, the final release date has been fixed. The Venom Sequel will now open in theatres on September 17 this year.
