The show welcomed Emma and Ziad, a new couple already going through emotional tension and financial stress. In the premiere episode, Emma prepares for her trip to Morocco to see Ziad for the first time since they got together. When her siblings came to visit her, she had a confession to make.
Her siblings were shell-shocked as the confession came just before she boarded the plane. While her siblings worried about her decision to travel so far, Emma revealed problems with the whole setup. Can Emma handle the pressure she now carries? And will Ziad support her after hearing the truth? Keep on reading to know more.

Emma and Ziad are one of the few couples who are introduced for the first time in Before The 90 Days. Emma, who has an identical twin sister, shared that her bond with Ziad began long before she even traveled to Morocco. They first started talking digitally and started bonding over video calls. Before traveling to Morocco to meet him, Emma documented her entire journey for Ziad. However, she started overthinking during her stopover in Paris. She started questioning whether Ziad had been fully honest with her.
This doubt came from her past. Emma revealed that she had been exploited financially by her past lovers. But she still assured herself, knowing that Ziad had a stable job as a nurse. But despite having work, Ziad still asked her to cover their rental in Marrakesh, which she found somewhat doubtful. Season 8 also highlights the larger international cast seeking love across borders. From Rick and Trisha to Sheena and Forrest, Emma and Ziad form part of this diverse group navigating culture shock, trust issues, and financial strains.
In the first episode, Emma reveals that she recently lost her job. Before leaving for her trip, her siblings, Izzi and Zach, visited to check on her. That’s when Emma revealed that she had been fired after a conflict with her coworker and former best friend. According to Emma, HR blamed her for the situation, which meant she had no job and was financially strained right before traveling outside the US.
Once she arrived in Morocco, the pressure increased. Emma felt insecure when Ziad refused to kiss her in public due to his cultural norms. She admitted that while she understood his boundaries, it still felt bad. Ziad didn’t respond nicely and claimed he wouldn’t kiss her at all. This left Emma confused, and she even got emotional. Even their first meeting soon turned into a full argument when Ziad confronted her about trust. He said he struggled to depend on her words and felt she might be hiding things.
This triggered Emma’s past trauma. She opened up about her previous relationship with Mohammed, a man she was once engaged to. She confessed that she cut off communication with Ziad to try to make things work with Mohammed, but that relationship ended in heartbreak. Ziad had no idea about Mohammed, and Emma feared his reaction once he learned the truth. She admitted that revealing this part of her past made her nervous.
