It’s only been a few months since 90 Day Fiance: Before The 90 Days came out with a new season, a new cast, and a new way of showcasing their stories. But it seems like not everyone is a fan of that new way of the show. Fans are speaking out as fans think what was once a show focused on relationship problems has now turned a bit uncomfortable.
Across Reddit and other fan forums, there had been complaints about excessive sexual content and somewhat degrading portrayals of non-Americans. Many fans feel the shift has made the series difficult to enjoy with other family members or kids present. Has the franchise gone too far in chasing shock value? And are producers ignoring what fans actually want to see? Keep on reading to know more.

90 Day Fiance has always pushed the boundaries of storytelling in the reality TV world. But this season, several couples have been shown in explicit or compromising situations. Especially, almost immediately after they first see each other for the first time. During this season, Rick traveled to Madagascar to meet his girlfriend, Trisha. During one of their segments, Rick revealed he brought a plastic splash mat to protect hotel bedding when they get intimate. This became quite a talking point among fans and was even discussed by fellow cast members on Pillow Talk. Another storyline focused on Forrest and his mother, Molly.
Molly went with Forrest to a sex toy shop and helped him pick lingerie for his partner, Sheena. Things became more uncomfortable when Molly discussed her own sex life on camera. She even told Forrest she planned to have sex with his stepfather on the airplane. Forrest got embarrassed and admitted he did not want to hear those details. Lisa’s storyline with Daniel also made fans feel a certain way. Cameras followed the couple into their bedroom after Daniel proposed. But Daniel refused to get intimate, and Lisa spiraled into panic attacks. She started questioning her attractiveness while the cameras continued rolling.
90 Day Fiance fans started talking about the matter on different online forums. They were disappointed with the new season’s direction. Many felt it was quite “vulgar, performative,” and hard to watch with other people. Several fans believe the show now relies on sexual shock instead of romantic storytelling.
One fan commented that the series shifted from “relatively benign info about couples” to disturbing portrayals of non-American cast members. Others criticized the network for showing exploitative behavior that they encouraged. Another fan felt there was an increase in sexual conversations, calling it strange and unnecessary. Many fans say the explicit scenes make it impossible to watch the show around children, while before they could.
Some admitted they now change rooms or turn off the TV. Several fans blamed TLC for believing the idea that “sex sells.” They felt that the idea was outdated and poorly done. Others said they miss earlier seasons, when cameras respected boundaries and didn’t show intimate moments. For the latest 90 Day Fiance tea, stay tuned to TV Season & Spoilers.
