Geoffrey Paschel became one of the most problematic cast members from 90 Day Fiance after this major reveal. He is currently serving an 18-year prison sentence for aggrevated a*sault and k*dnapping of one of his exes. Despite it all, his fiancee at the time, Varya Malina, has been very supportive of him. She doesn’t believe he did such a thing, and everyone is hoping for a re-trial. They are filing appeals for the same.
A lot of viewers think Varya is a smart cookie. After all, her partner will likely come out before 18 years, but she is in the US, taking care of his assets, meanwhile. This way she is safe from harm because of the charges he is facing jail time for. However, she often uses her social media to give updates about her partner and his life in prison. She made yet another post talking about filing another appeal for him!

90 Day Fiance: A Brief History Of All Of Geoffrey Paschel’s Appeals!
90 Day Fiance fans must know by now that Geoffrey Paschel was found guilty in 2021. It was for attacking his ex-fiancée in 2019. He first appealed to the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals in 2022. That court denied his appeal in September 2023 and kept his 18-year sentence in place. Varya has made sure to update everyone about such details and she does so with a heavy heart on social media.
Then, Geoffrey asked the Tennessee Supreme Court to review the case. His time had led to an application for permission to appeal. Well, it is not automatic, and a higher court must grant it. Well, they denied the request in March 2024. After losing both appeals, he moved on to file a Petition for Post-Conviction Relief in 2025. What is this new appeal all about?
90 Day Fiance: Geoffrey Paschel Has Filed A New Appeal! Will Get Released Early?
Geoffrey Paschel ended up appealing the dismissal of his Petition for Post-Conviction Relief to the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals. But the Knox County Criminal Court dismissed the petition was on April 3, 2025. Unwilling to give up, the 90 Day Fiance star filed his Notice of Appeal on April 9 of the same year.

Paschel claims his conviction should be reviewed. They must do so due to ineffective assistance of counsel and possible new evidence. However, the trial court denied his request without an evidentiary hearing. His legal team is now pushing to have that decision overturned. It turns out, the appeals court in Knoxville will decide whether the trial court was wrong to dismiss the petition without a hearing.
So, if they deny the appeal again, Paschel could ask the Tennessee Supreme Court to review it. Only after that could he take his case to federal court. Paschel’s fiancee, Varya Malina, recently posted online about a motion and court date likely tied to the appeal. As mentioned above, she continues to support him publicly. No filings have yet been made with the U.S. Supreme Court. Keep an eye on TV Season & Spoilers for more 90 Day Fiance news.
