As of now, we haven’t got any official confirmation when the filming for the next season would begin. But the creators had lately hinted that they were working on the script. Even the entire cast and crew members will soon return to the sets to continue working on the fourth season. Initially, the filming for Babylon Berlin Season 4 was scheduled to begin in June 2020.

But the ongoing pandemic had halted the production. However, the co-director Henk Handloegten earlier said that they hoped they could continue filming in the next year. Earlier, the news came off that filming for the fourth season would begin any time in early 2021. But regarding the confirmed date, we haven’t heard anything from the creators.

Recently the news came that The Good Shepherd star Mark Ivanir will join Babylon Berlin Season 4. Mark will take on a recurring role in the fourth season, but his role has been kept under wraps. Meanwhile, Volker Bruch as Gereon Rath will return with Liv Lisa Fries as Charlotte Ritter and Lars Eidinger as Alfred Nyseen. Jens Harzer, as Dr. Anno Schmidt, will also return.

Babylon Berlin Season 4: What To Expect?

The third season finale saw 1929’s collapse of the international economy while a giant monster roamed through the sewer gates. Well, it was pretty confusing as nobody expected the beast there. Above all, Rath decided to listen to his long-lost brother and started taking an overdose of morphine to convert into the human-machine. Now, the people of Germany are likely protesting for the economic collapse. It will indeed become worse in the fourth season.

Henk confirmed that the upcoming season would explore the third novel of Volker Kutscher titled Goldstein. He added that this book contains a lot of storylines to delve into. However, a German magazine, Qiez, teased that the fourth season would focus on two different third novel cases- Goldstein: Gereon Rath’s third case and the fourth case, The Fatherland Files.

Rath And Charlotte Will Form A Bond

The last season saw a budding relationship between Rath and Charlotte. When they both kissed, it appeared that Rath’s traumatic period would be over now. However, the end saw Rath keep seeing delusions after watching his ex-lover with a new partner. But Henk confirmed that the upcoming season would explore Rath and Charlotte’s relationship in a more profound way.
