Coronation Street star Jenny Platt returns as Violet Wilson once again. However, she is fuming with anger as she returns. In the upcoming episodes, Dylan Wilson receives a community service order for possession of a knife. But little does he know is- another hurdle, his furious mother, is waiting for him at home. 

The actress, who has been absent since 2011, revealed that Dylan’s involvement in horrific bullying prompts her character’s return. She suggested that as long as Dylan resides in Weatherfield, her maternal instincts will bring her back. The soap star stated, “I think his mum would always have to come and have something to say about everything.”

Despite her busy schedule over the years, Platt admitted feeling ‘really, really scared’ by her return to Coronation Street after such a long hiatus. She described the feeling as going back to an ex. However, she found comfort in the familiar surroundings and the warm welcome from the cast and crew.

Platt highlighted the significant changes that have occurred, both on and off-screen. Liam McCheyne (Dylan Wilson), who was just a baby when Violet left, has since grown into an adult. Despite the changes, the Coronation Street actress praised McCheyne’s professionalism and maturity on set.

Additionally, the soap actress acknowledged the rise of social media since her exit. She emphasised the importance of staying updated and avoiding becoming consumed by online interactions. The newly returned commented, “I think in either direction it could be dangerous.”
