Coronation Street Actress Lisa George Opens Up About Her Eye Condition
Coronation Street star Lisa George (Beth Sutherland) recently shared her story about her eye condition. Back in 2022, she found out she had NAION in her left eye when she noticed her sight was fading. Also, she’d already lost a lot of vision in her right eye from an accident.
But she’s not letting it hold her back; the soap star is facing it head-on and still shining brightly. In a heartfelt conversation with MailOnline, the Coronation Street actress shared how her condition has impacted her life. She recalled the time when her doctor told her straight up that she’d never regain her full sight.

Initially terrified, Lisa emphasised that dwelling on what could or couldn’t happen was no way to live. She bravely declared that she had just got to get on with it. She added, “Coronation Street was brilliant and said, ‘Don’t worry, we will help you with everything you need.”
‘Night Shoots Were The Biggest Challenge’ Says Lisa
Amidst all, Lisa’s biggest worry was the night shoots. During one shoot, she found it really hard to see where the pavement ended. Luckily, everyone on set has been super helpful. And then there was this other time when she struggled to navigate down the fake stairs.

She remembered asking the Coronation Street director if they could switch things up a bit. Thankfully, he was totally understanding. The soap actress expressed that she can’t thank them enough for being so supportive and making these little adjustments.
George revealed tripping over cables in the dark. She revealed it’s a daily struggle at home. She said that the worst is when she is tired, and even in the morning, it takes the Coronation Street star ages to see properly. Speaking about her friend, Paralympian Libby Clegg, who is also registered blind, Lisa highlighted that she is such an inspiration.

The actress said, “I rang her because I was so upset. She said ‘you’ve just got to learn how to adjust to things.’ She was just wonderful. She introduced me to the visually impaired charity that she works for.” At last, we send more power and love to the star. And for more Coronation Street updates, keep checking TV Season & Spoilers!
