Dangerously Obese Star Opens Up About Faith & Exploring Drag

In the newest episode of Dangerously Obese, Ty showed his emotional side as he discussed self-acceptance and his struggles with faith and identity. In a conversation with his mentor and friend, Ty confessed how he has been “experimenting a little with drag” in private but hasn’t built up the confidence to perform in public.

Ty explains how growing up in a small town made conflicting thoughts about drag in his head. He says, “This is not what we do. Even me coming out was just like a big ‘What the hell?’”. Speaking of his upbringing, he says his faith and identity clashed with each other, making it difficult for him to fully embrace his true self.

In the video, Ty is in conversation with a friend, who reassured him and talked about his own internal struggle and how he dealt with it. Ty  speaks honestly and mentions how he stopped going to church since he didn’t want anyone to look at him differently. His friend texted him the number of a gay-friendly pastor, and Ty looks forward to practicing his faith to support his weight-loss journey.

New Dangerously Obese Star Ty Takes A Drag Dance Class

The episode follows Ty into a confidence-boosting drag dance class. Guided by his instructor, Ty did squats, shuffles, and hip poses as an introduction to drag dance and to boost his self-esteem. In a confessional, Ty says, “Doing the squats and sticking my booty out, legs working at me,” and comes across someone determined to push through.

Even though Ty looks tired, he pauses briefly to catch his breath before continuing. The persistence impresses his instructor as well, who says, “It’s okay to take a break. The fact that you even showed up—that’s confidence right there”.
