Dark Season 4: The third season of the Netflix series Dark was released on June 27, 2020. Ever since then, fans have been wondering if Dark Season 4 would happen. Unfortunately, the third season of Dark was the last of the series. So, we will not get Dark Season 4. This news surfaced even before the second season of the series aired in 2019. Back in May 2019, about this cancellation. In the statement, Baran bo Odar, the creator of the show, revealed that it is official that they are working on the third season of Dark, and that would be the final season of the journey.
However, this cancellation did not come because Netflix didn’t want more. In fact, Odar revealed that they had always hoped to make the series a three chapter-long series. In the statement, he says that they had always had three seasons in mind when they were developing Dark.
Since ending the show was a creative decision, it is possible that the creators might revisit the show later on. The third season of the show was critically acclaimed and bagged 97% Rotten Tomatoes. Based on 30 reviews, the show had an average rating of 8.54 on ten. It was Certified Fresh. Keeping in mind this success, it is possible that creators would want to make more of the show. If Dark Season 4 does happen, what would happen on the show? Here is what we think of it.
What Would Happen In Dark Season 4?
The storyline for all the three seasons of the show has had a pretty complex story with a number of twists and turns. So, the creators can very easily find a way to continue the story from the final episode. In the three seasons of the series, Dark explored the time paradoxes and their consequences.
The show follows four families that are stuck in a time loop. While one story might get resolved, nothing seems to be stopping Dark from making a new loop or perhaps a parallel world. In another dimension or even in another world, the events that happened in the third season didn’t happen or happening in a different way. Once the show opens the gateway for time travel, there are infinite possibilities of what could happen in Dark Season 4. There are alternate realities and all kinds of time-travel shenanigans. There are a number of possibilities that can be explored. The creators might introduce new characters or even a new universe, perhaps.
The third season of the show ended with a rather cryptic line. The very last line of the series referenced Hannah’s unborn child in what is called the Genesis world. This is the world where time travel hasn’t yet happened. Hannah suggests that she would like to name the baby Jonas.
So, if and when Dark season 4 happens, would Jonas become the protagonist of the show? His father was Torben Wöller and not Michel/Mikkel Kahnwald. So, this would be a different take on the show. Then, if the creators do choose to take on this plot, it wouldn’t be the first time there was an alternate Jonas who even looked different. We will keep you posted with all the updates.
