Doubling Down With The Derricos documented Deon and Karen navigate parenthood for 14 children. The show ran for five seasons before it was taken off air. Fans thought that it was the Deon-Karen divorce that led TLC to cancel the show. However, it was later revealed that the show’s low ratings was the cause. He mentioned that their relation with TLC was fine and that their contract was over. He also said that it was a family decision to not work with TLC anymore.
Deon kept fans updated about the future of the show. In one of his social media posts, he stated that other networks are scouting their show. He was ecstatic to announce that the Derricos will return with a new show with a new network. He reiterated that he had no hard feelings with TLC but their time was over. Fans was happy to learn about it.
Deon from Doubling Down With The Derricos appeared on the Sarah Fraser Show. The reality star opened up about the salaries they received from TLC. The reality show ran for five seasons. It was about a family of 14 and how Deon and Karen navigated parenthood of so many children. The show started in 2020 and ran till mid-2024. He said TLC paid them well.

Even though he didn’t give an exact number, Deon pointed out that TLC paid them a handsome amount for their show. When Sarah Fraser asked if it was $8000 per episode, he said it was way more than that. Apparently, the network paid around $25000 per episode. It was a good sum. However, he mentioned that the amount seems terrific, but it was not enough to compensate for a large family of 14.
Deon then spilled the tea about how the paycheck did not take GG and Erik into consideration. They had to be paid from his and Karen’s pockets. “We were paid well. I feel like every time we negotiated, they would honor our requests,” he said. “But when you juxtapose the size of our family, and that’s including both GG and Eric … you have 18 people eating out of that pot.”
Deon is frustrated that he couldn’t leverage his reality TV fame into brand deals or sponsorships, as TLC stood in the way of that. It was in their contract that they couldn’t profit from the show without their approval. He said, “Something needs to happen, specifically to reality stars, where we have better protections with networks”. For more updates on Derricos, follow TV Seasons and Spoilers.
