As they are a family of multiples, Derricos differ a lot from any other normal family. In fact, they have different ways of dealing with all sorts of things, be it public gatherings, bedtime routines, or even homeschooling. In fact, out of all the 14 kids, nine of them were already going to school. However, Karen Derrico wished to homeschool her children and pulled them out of school before the COVID pandemic came into being.
Hence, teaching her kids during the lockdown came easy to her as she was already used to it in some ways. However, Cheatsheet revealed that the celebrity was doubtful about this new venture as she is a stay-at-home-mom and was pregnant at the time. Hence, she felt frustrated at the idea of educating all nine kids at once. Yet, the Doubling Down With the Derricos star has a calendar that helps her organize her schooling and filming schedule. In fact, she jokingly refers to herself as “drill sergeant” when getting the children ready to kickstart their day.
Yet, the most challenging aspect of homeschooling is her house’s size, as per Karen. As she has to take care of 9 kids, they are scattered around the kitchen, classroom, and bedrooms. Hence, Karen moves around all these places to teach her offsprings, while constantly going upstairs and downstairs.
Doubling Down With the Derricos: Is GG Okay? Lung Cancer Scare Puts The Family’s Move On Hold
Apart from Deon and Karen Derrico with their 14 kids, there is another family member who gets a whole lot of love from the audience. Yes, we are talking about GG, i.e., Deon’s mother. As raising 14 kids together can be a handful, the couple uses all the help they can get. It turns out GG is a pro at handling the multiple siblings. Therefore, viewers admire the beloved grandma a lot. However, a massive revelation in a new episode made fans quite emotional.
Unfortunately, the Doubling Down With the Derricos star’s cancer returned. Initially, GG was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2014. Hence, the family thought they had nothing to worry about. However, they got upset after finding out the tumor was still cancerous. In fact, the Derricos also put their big South Caroline move on hold owing to GG’s ailing health.
