EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick recently broke silence on his ongoing struggle with anxiety. The soap actor known for playing Jay Brown is bracing himself to run the London Marathon this month. Read further to know what the actor revealed about his anxiety!

EastEnders: Jamie Touches On His Anxiety

The EastEnders actor opened up about his struggle with anxiety during an interview with Offaly Live. Firstly, Jamie confessed to fighting anxiety and called himself “a massive hypochondriac.” Moreover, his anxiety started with a fear of being sick and later evolved into other health scares as he grew up. Jamie has opted for therapy to manage the phobia. Luckily, “The coping mechanisms and tools I gathered in the therapy sessions have really helped me,” Borthwick added.

However, the EastEnders legend believes nobody really fully recovers from such issues; they just become equipped with it. But the Walford stalwart revealed that he’s in better form than he was a decade ago! Furthermore, Jamie explained his choice to support Prostate Cancer UK. He disclosed that his family members have all faced the disease.

While his dad and uncle got diagnosed early and got treatment, his cousin is currently undergoing treatment. Even Borthwick will get regular check-ups from age 45, thanks to his family’s fragile medical history. Meanwhile, Jamie will juggle marathon preparation with shooting for EastEnders. His character, Jay, partakes in the race alongside Honey Mitchell for the first time in the soap’s history.

He completed one in 2019, raising money for Dementia Revolution to pay tribute to his former co-star Dame Barbara Windsor. You’re killing it, Jamie! Your efforts keep us all motivated and inspired!
