EastEnders: Shona McGarty Reveals Her New Role Post Walford Exit

TV Season & Spoilers has regularly been bringing you all the latest EastEnders updates. Including that of Shona McGarty’s impending exit from the soap. The talented star has played Whitney Dean on the BBC One drama for sixteen years. However, she admitted to the media that she feels it is time for her to spread her wings and fly out of Walford. Many media reports have suggested that Shona has already filmed her exit scenes, which are to be aired in the upcoming weeks.

Now, the soon to be EastEnders alum, has announced her latest project. Shona took to Instagram to share with her fans that she will now be in the limelight on live stage! As the festive season is approaching, Shona has joined the upcoming pantomime production of Beauty and the Beast. The live enactment will take place at the Orchard Theatre in Dartford. So fans can get ready to watch her in the role of Belle from December 9 to December 31, 2023.

But that’s not all! Shona won’t be the only EastEnders star in the pantomime production. She will be joined on stage by another ex-cast member of the BBC One soap. It is none other than, Harry Reid. Long-term fans will remember that Reid used to portray Ben Mitchell from 2014 until 2018. After his exit, the role had fallen into Max Bowden’s hands. While we do know that Shona will be playing Belle, Reid’s character is still a mystery. But we will update you on that as soon as we find more details!

EastEnders Stars Pour In Love for Shona

The EastEnders star’s post immediately garnered a lot of traction, love and encouragement from fans, as well as, co-stars. Ricky Norwood (Fatboy) was quick to rave Shona and Harry Reid. “I know already it’s going to be a great show! Go smash it!!” he cheered in the comments. “Can’t wait to watch you both x,” Louisa Lytton (Ruby Allen) gushed soon after. Well, it looks Shona is finally seeing brilliant opportunities beyond being Whitney Dean. This was something she had been craving for a long time. We hope her act becomes a smashing success, and opens the door for many more path-breaking projects.
