EastEnders spoilers: Jamie Borthwick Breaks Silence On A Health Battle With No End in Sight!

EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick comes out all gutsy to his fans! The actor shone a light on his journey with therapy. The soap actor is all set to run the London Marathon this weekend in character to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK. EastEnders: Jamie Opens Up About His Health Struggle!

On EastEnders, viewers have seen Jamie’s Jay Brown training for the big race in memory of his TV wife Lola. The late character passed away from a brain tumour. So, Jamie revealed that the cancer has hit his family hard, with his father and uncle getting diagnosed with prostate cancer. Even his cousin couldn’t remain safe from the clutches of the terminal disease. Firstly, Borthwick touched on his anxiety in a chat with The Mirror.

Moreover, the EastEnders legend called himself “a massive hypochondriac.” He expressed, “Every day, I wake up and go, ‘What’s wrong with me today?’ But the actor confessed to doing alright after undergoing therapy, but he won’t ever fully recover! Furthermore, he recounted the dark time when he broke down upon learning about his father’s cancer. However, the doctors had it under control due to the early diagnosis, leaving Jamie a bit relaxed.

Fortunately, Jamie’s father and uncle recovered swiftly, but there was a catch. Due to his family history, the EastEnders actor faces a higher risk of getting prostate cancer himself.  Additionally, Jamie described this one incident where a mere infection gave him chills that he had cancer. Earlier, Jamie announced, “17 months on from my sister running the London marathon for @prostatecanceruk.” The soap veteran is using his marathon run to raise awareness about prostate cancer and encourage men to get checked early.

In addition, Jamie thanked his fans for all the support and love. Also, Jamie and Emma (Honey) will hit the racetrack in character for BBC Children in Need.
