The soap actress shared her terrifying ordeal on Instagram. She revealed having gone through a “complete agony” during her 24-hour stint at Blackpool Victoria Hospital. The ex-EastEnders star gave a huge shout-out to the NHS staff, calling them angels and thanking them big time. Moreover, Cheryl Fergison went on to call out the system, which is all messed up. She revealed, “We’ve got a broken system. It’s gone to pot. It’s shot.” However, she lauded the NHS, “But it’s still amazing, and we still have it—just by a thread.”

Additionally, the EastEnders actress got real about the struggles people face in the A&E department. They have to wait longer hours and do not get beds for days. Fergison also took a dig at people who abuse the system. She pointed out that such people turn up for minor stuff that could be fixed with some paracetamol.

Furthermore, the EastEnders legend touched on the importance of reserving those services for people who really need them. Cheryl admitted to becoming really emotional after stumbling upon the mix of folks in the waiting room. These ranged from young to old and vulnerable. Even the police had to deal with folks who “had just lost the plot, been in fights, done all sorts of things.” Finally, the EE fan favourite ended her rant by highlighting how hard NHS staff work.
