‘Charity’s State Of Mind Is Terrifying’ Says Emmerdale Star Emma Atkins
Clearly, Charity Dingle is at the lowest in her life. Her mental health crisis has only gotten worse after she accidentally killed Harry Harris. However, she is off all the legal charges. Lately, her trauma terror has been leading her into multiple unusual incidents, including attacking Moira, getting startled by gunshots or similar sounds, and leaving behind her parental duties.
Recently, Emmerdale actress Emma Atkins revealed that Charity is about to commit another ‘horrifying act.’ According to the actress, Charity is so vulnerable that she is unable to function. She shared, “Charity is trying, but unfortunately, because of the PTSD she’s suffering from, she’s experiencing that panic where as soon as she hears a noise.”
More importantly, her actions in Emmerdale have begun to expose his mental state to everyone around. Even though Charity is a strong woman. She has gone through quite a lot of traumatic experiences when she was younger. However, this time, she just can’t erase that memory as her mind and body refuse to align.
The soap star believes that the thing that triggered Charity the most was Harry’s mother saying that she’s lost her son. She said that Dr Liam Cavanagh offered help, but Charity chose isolation over it as she didn’t believe anything would work. Emmerdale actress expressed about her character, “Her state of mind is terrifying.”

Emma labeled Charity’s mental condition as ‘severe sleep deprivation.’ She shared, “I spoke to a psychologist about this, and sleep deprivation can be a terrible form of mental torture.” As per the Emmerdale star, her character is on ‘high alert.’ At this moment, she is scared of everything; to make it worse, she’s having nightmares about Harry.
In the upcoming episodes of Emmerdale, Charity’s mental state will put Mack’s life on the edge. Atkins described that Mack lets himself in the house, thinking that Charity is doing better now. However, he is unaware that a visit to Harry’s grave has pulled Charity back into darkness.
Later, when he walks around the sofa and gently touches her leg, Charity ends up hitting him as she thinks it’s something more ‘sinister.’ The actress asserts, “The incident leaves Mack gravely injured.” What do you think?
