Fargo Season 5: Set To Return But Not This Year, Says Noah Hawley, Know More

FX

Good news, FX’s thriller anthology series Fargo creator Noah Hawley confirms that Fargo Season 5 is definitely on the cards. However, it would take more time than usual. Inspired by the Coen Brothers’ movie of the same title, Fargo is an anthology series that revolves around different characters and their criminal lifestyle. The first season followed the film’s footsteps, while the other three seasons focused on the primary source. Just like the movie, FX’s Fargo also received critical acclaim since its debut.

However, Fargo Season 4 was the first season set in Kansas City, Missouri, rather than Minnesota. It takes place in the 1950s, where an African-American crime family head trades his youngest son as a part of the tradition with a rival Italian gang. It soon explored the battle between two gangs over Kansas City powers. But the complex family history turns the biggest twist in the fourth season. Now, fans are eager for more, but when they’ll be able to watch it is unclear.

Fargo Season 5: Has It Renewed At FX?

Recently, during the SXSW virtual chat, Hawley confirmed the fifth season of the show. Well, the series has been critically acclaimed for its style and quirky characters. The recent season received an 81% positive response on Rotten Tomatoes and 68% from the critics. However, Hawley discussed the fifth season’s possibilities before the fourth season aired. He said that the fifth season might not happen. Well, we are lucky enough that it’s not the case now.

Would Take Some Time

Although Hawley is looking for the fifth season, yet he isn’t sure when it could begin filming. As of now, he’s not in a place to continue writing the fifth season. But he’s excited to work on the next season. Hawley said that he needs at least ten hours to jot down what he wants to tell. So the upcoming season would land in the next year. Well, Hawley has other projects to work on, too, including the Star Trek movie.

Though Hawley said that the script is already completed yet the Paramount put a hold on it last summer. So it seems entirely rational to begin working on it next year. Further, Fargo typically takes a couple of years to come up with the following season. Even deeming the quality level that the show puts on, this wait between the two seasons seems understandable.

Fargo Season 5: What To Expect From The Next Season?

While each season follows its own separate story and doesn’t require serving as a follow-up, the fifth season still seems to delve deeper into the missing loops. During a conversation, the series star Andrew Bird asked whether Hawley has intentionally connected everything in the fourth season. Since the fourth season explores the young Mike Milligan’s story that appeared in the older version in the second season played by Bokeem Woodbine.

Hawley responded that he only enjoys creating a Midwest region criminal world that follows the period of 1950-2008. Although he didn’t explain whether he wanted to drop Easter eggs in the upcoming season, we can expect that he would come up with some never-heard story, perhaps with some links with past seasons.
