General Hospital has a plethora of bizarreness to boast of and it is not an entirely bad thing! These out-of-the-world happenings is what makes the ABC soap so entertaining to watch! One such element of bizarreness was the two separate characters actor Roger Howarth has played. In 2013, he took over the role of Franco Baldwin. However, when the baddie was shot dead in 2021, Roger stayed back on the soap. He was cast as an entirely new character, Dr. Austin Holt.
However, Franco’s death left a bad taste in many General Hospital fans’ mouths! Especially the ones who were rooting for his romance that had started to ebb with Liz! Unfortunately, Franco’s death sunk that ship. But the latest spoilers tease that the makers of the ABC soap are about to undo that folly. Even if Liz couldn’t have a happily ever after with Franco, she is about to get a new chance at it with Austin! In the April 19 episode, Liz had some wonderful things to say about Austin, and we could feel the old, Liz-Franco energy radiating from the screen!
We wonder if General Hospital was trying to do a test run with them before going all in with a Liz-Austin romance. If that’s the case, then this pairing totally has our vote! Hell, we would even slip in cheat votes if we could! Rebecca and Roger look stellar together on the screen. In fact, actress Rebecca Herbst had admitted to being “bewildered” by the abrupt ending of Liz and Franco’s tale. In a chat with Soap Opera Digest, she pointed out that Liz had grown a lot during her relationship with Roger.
Furthermore, she added that she never could really understand why General Hospital ended things the way they did. Well, Rebecca is not alone in feeling that way, we completely resonate with the sentiment. However, we would let it pass if GH actually gives us Liz and Austin! What do you think? Would you like to see the revival of that chemistry? Tell us in the comments. Meanwhile, stay tuned to General Hospital to find out what happens between Liz and Austin.
