Monica spoke about the fact that Jeff did not have any relationship with Liz and her boys. Given how everything is moving forward, it looks like Jeff might be reconnecting with Jake. That would explain why Jake is being so weird and doesn’t want to share details about it with anyone.
Jake might be worried that if Liz hates Jeff too much if she comes to know that Jake is connecting with him, she might never be able to forgive him. Jeff, on the other hand, would feel that he might have better luck bonding with Liz’s sons rather than herself. Not only that, given how much poor Jake has gone through in past days, it is possible that Jeff would have stepped up as the family Jake needed.
