Happy! Season 3: It has been a long time since we last saw Happy! The last we saw of the series was the second season that followed detective Nick Sax as he lives as a social outcast. He fills his days with drinking and substance abuse. After going through a major heart attack, Nick befriends an imaginary friend, a small, blue, unicorn that only he can see.
Happy, the unicorn tells Nick that he is the imaginary friend of a kid called Hailey who has been kidnapped by a deranged man disguised as Santa Claus. Happy tells Nick that Hailey is none other than Nick’s estranged daughter. Nick later on agrees and two of them try to save Hailey. The events after that slowly begin unraveling big theories. Happy! Season 3: Renewal Status
Unfortunately, Happy! Season 3 will not happen. Syfy has officially canceled the show. The news that the show will not come back for a third season came back in June 2019. However, that announcement was not a surprise for anything. According to a report by TV Series Finale, the second season of Happy! saw a huge drop in viewership.
The show averaged a rating of 0.09 rating and about 280,000 views. While this isn’t an extremely bad figure, this was the drop of the rating of about 56% and 57% respectively when compared to the first season. This wasn’t a statistic that any streaming service would want.
Another reason for the cancelation of Happy! could also be Syfy’s 2019 clean-out as a number of shows were canceled. These shows included Deadly Class, Channel Zero, Nightflyers, and Killjoys that were all canceled around the same time.
Would It Ever Happen?
While Syfy has canceled the show, there is a chance that some other network would pick the show and bring additional installments of the series. If the reports are to be believed, Universal Content Productions is already planning to shop the series out of the other networks. That means that viewers can be hopeful that another cable network would pick Happy! for season 3 and beyond.
We really think that we might think that the more obvious location for Happy! Season 3 would be Netflix. The series is already performing better on the streaming giant. With the fans already petitioning for Netflix to pick the show up, there is a good chance that Netflix might consider picking up the show and bring of it.
What Would Happen In It?
If Happy! Season 3 is picked up, it is possible that viewers will get to see Nick Sax as he continues living his vigilante lifestyle along with his imaginary friend, Happy, the flying blue unicorn. Happy! Season 3 would center around yet another holiday. We won’t get to see a follow-up to the Christmas tale we saw in the first season. The second season of the show also wrapped up with a vision of Easter.
In an interview, Patrick Macmanus, the Executive Producer of the show says that when they began getting involved with the show, the network had said that they wanted each season to revolve around different holidays. The fact that the second season was about Easter, it makes a lot of sense for them to try and figure out a way where Nick and have him attempt to make a new life.
Happy! Season 3: When Would The Show Release?
The release date of Happy! Season 3 is dependent on when the show gets picked up. The first and the second season of the show had about a fourteen-year gap and that makes us think that the third season would also need a similar time for production. Hoping that Happy! Season 3 gets picked up by some network in the upcoming days, we can expect to see the third season of the series either late 2022 or early 2023.
