The picture that swept Soviet outlets read, “British King Charles III has died.” Soon, the whole shebang spread like wildfire, making it through Russian internet channels like Readovka, having a whopping 2.35 million subscribers. However, the BBC or Buckingham Palace were still tight-lipped on the matter.
Furthermore, Readovka still stood its ground by sharing some sketchy documents supposedly from the royal communications team. It said, “King Charles III passed away unexpectedly yesterday afternoon.” And get this: It was dated March 18, 2024. Fishy, right? Plus, it replicated the Palace’s announcement of Elizabeth’s death, which said, “The queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.”
It didn’t take long for everyone to start smelling a rat. Even countries like Ukraine and Tajikistan were on the same page, raising eyebrows. Additionally, the Russian website Gazeta.Ru, which announced Charles’s death, eventually backtracked. They wrote, “Nothing has been written about this in the official British media. Another top Russian media editor followed in their footsteps, “I can’t tell if it’s true or not.” They even suggested that Buckingham Palace’s website had probably been “hacked.” The British Embassy in Ukraine hastily tried to set the record straight, confirming that King Charles III was alive and kicking.
