The Robinsons’ space exploits are finally coming to its end journey with Lost In Space Season 3, which wrapped its filming soon in early January. As soon as the series landed on Netflix, it quickly became the most popular series among the viewers. Inspired by 1812’s novel The Swiss Family Robinson, Lost In Space is a Netflix’s sci-fi series. It follows the Robinson family- John, Maureen, Judy, Will, and Penny as they struggle to survive in outer space. While traveling through space, the family deals with space travel’s trials and tribulations. Meanwhile, dealing with human friends, foes, and not to forget the alien robots.
Lost In Space Season 3: Has It Renewed For The Next Run?
As soon as the last season landed, the fans began clamoring for the next run. But after three months of long waiting, Netflix finally confirmed that Lost In Space would return for the third and final season. Well, the news suddenly dropped the fans’ joy leading to a small petition signed for more seasons. But the showrunner Zack Estrin stated that the series has always been imagined as a trilogy.
Zack added that the show was intended to follow a three-part epic family adventure with a proper beginning, middle, and end. So unlike other series, the show can give a satisfying conclusion to its characters especially, Will, Penny, John, Judy, Don West, Maureen, Dr. Smith, The Robot, and Debbie the Chicken. Zack added that while the series’ edging closer to its conclusion, he’s excited to explore new stories at Netflix.
Lost In Space Season 3: Has Production Begun For The Next Run?
Fortunately, filming for the third and final run begin in early September 9, 2020, in British Columbia, Canada. Soon on September 26, NX on Netflix confirmed that Lost In Space had returned to work. Even the showrunner Zack Estrin shared that filming began following the strict on-set precautions. During the course of filming, Zack had been actively sharing behind-the-scenes images on social media. But soon, on January 12, NX on Netflix confirmed that filming has wrapped up.
Lost In Space Season 3: What To Expect From The Third Season?
The last we saw that Will, Judy, and Penny, the three, finally escaped from the violent robot army. However, the giant cliffhanger left was the Jupiter Transport, which carried the children somehow comes in contact with the long-lost ship, the Fortuna. It might mean that some old member would reappear, perhaps Grant Kelly. However, it’s still unclear. But as the production occurs in a different location, it’s safe to say that they’re now in an unknown solar system.
Now anything could happen, but Dr. Smith’s fate is still up in the air. Howbeit it appears as the ending of the character as her body didn’t recover. As of now, we can only hope that she might return, or it could be her ultimate demise. Besides her, Maureen and John stuck between the robot stack. Now whether they survived is still a mystery.
Lost In Space Season 3: When Will It Air?
As of now, it’s unclear when the series would return for its final run. But deeming that production has already wrapped up, we can expect that Lost In Space Season 3 would air at least in the late summer of 2021.
