Back in February, Love Island fame Olivia and Alex Bowen revealed that they were all set to welcome their second child. Later in March, the couple came forward and disclosed that they were actually expecting twins, but due to vanishing twin syndrome (VTS), they lost one of the babies. Olivia admitted that when she found out they were having twins, the thought made her a little anxious.
Olivia added, however, that Alex was really positive about it. Alex further said that he had already started to imagine their life with the twins and how he would have checked the back of the car during their holiday. “And then, yeah, unfortunately, that just got kind of taken away,” he said. The couple revealed that when they went for the eight-week scan, one of the babies did not have a heartbeat. They shared that it was truly heartbreaking.
Love Island stars Olivia and Alex have finally opened up about losing one of their twins, a month after their second child, a daughter named Sienna, was born. Recalling the tragic incident, Olivia shared that she was numb at first and then felt the need to talk. “But I try not take anything negative from it any more – we’re lucky to still have Sienna here,” she added. A few days ago, the couple also shared absolutely adorable photos of their newborn.

Olivia further explained that when they visited the hospital for an eight-week scan, she found out there was no heartbeat and no movement from one of the twins; she could not bring herself to look at Alex. The mother of two knew that her husband was heartbroken. “It was such a shock because there’d been no signs,” she admitted. Furthermore, Alex said that the grief hit him really hard and immediately.
He explained that when he was informed about the news, he went to the bathroom to cry. He could see that Olivia was in so much pain. Alex also admitted that it was the ‘most amazing feeling’ when he found out he was going to be a twin dad. In an interview with the Daily Mail, Olivia shared that she lost 2.8 litres of blood. The couple did not know what was going to happen, but they got to the end safely. “You realise what you’ve got and what matters. You realize how fragile everything is,” she added.
The couple admitted that the grief has made them stronger. Ten years ago, the pair first met on the show. Alex entered the show on day 18 as a ‘bombshell.’ Two days later, Olivia coupled up with him. Their chemistry was clear from day one. Later, they finished as runners-up on the show. Reflecting on the tough time, Alex said they are not quitters, and when times are tough, ‘they just work through them.’ Keep coming back to TV Season & Spoilers for more Love Island updates.
